New Sonic Chronicles trailer goes by fast
The actual overworld traversing reminds us a lot of Sonic 3D Blast – just in terms of the isometric perspective, mind you. Something tells us that this game will end up a lot better than Sega's "2.5D" offering for Genesis and Saturn did. Maybe it's the fact that, as this trailer so boldly (and largely) touts, the game is from the creators of Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?

looks kind of fun actually. its a shame i dont have a DS, but i think this is one Sonic game that will give Sega a tad better reputation.
then again, Bioware is the one making it, so truely the credit will go to them.

Please... Please god... LET THIS BE GOOD.
I do not want more disappointment.
Okay, praying to deity aside, I really hope this has that whole mario and luigi gameplay feel to it... You know, the perfect merger of the RPG gameplay with the original's style.
The exploration portions look fun and like said, a hopefully less sucky Sonic 3-D blast... But that game was easier to play on a computer (Or the Sega Saturn) than a console.

There will never be another good Sonic game. EVAR.

Looks like you had so much faith it couldn't fit into just one post.

I dunno, Sega seems to be trying with Sonic Unleashed. Also, Sonic Rush/Rush Adventure/Secret Rings weren't all that bad.
#28 @ Aug 1st 2008 10:25PM
Secret rings can go to hell, I hate that goddamn game.
Just no.
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Aug 2nd 2008 2:11PM
Well, what was wrong with the game? I'm not calling it a masterpiece but at the very least it wasn't buggy, and once you hit a certain point in the game it stays fun throughout to the end.
4MyFriends @ Aug 1st 2008 6:48PM
I REALLY want to have faith that this will turn out, but every time I put my trust in Sonic over the last few years he betrays that trust. I want to believe...

A couple years ago, I'd have been all for this game and totally pumped to play it. "The awesomeness of Sonic combined with an RPG adventure made by the same people who made Kotor? Where do I sign up?"
But that's all done and over with now. Sonic was my childhood hero, but look the shit games he's been in recently. Oh and I suppose you've all heard about Sonic and the Black Knight. He's holding a TALKING (I fucking called it) sword. THAT'S NOT SONIC *** ******!
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Aug 1st 2008 7:02PM
I figure if they implemented the swordplay correctly or in a way that makes sense in Sonic gameplay we might end up with a good title. Sonic and the Secret Rings type gameplay where you simply use the sword to slice through enemies in your way without having to stop... that'd be pretty cool. Probably far from what we're going to get, but I'll wait and see.

As someone who's enjoyed most of the twists and turns that have afflicted the Sonic Universe over the last decade, i hope that they really pull the stops out with fan-service, in-jokes, and references to really feed my Sonic fan-frenzy.
I trust BioWare is up to the task.
Ok: I enjoyed all of them except Sonic PS360 and Shadow, and even those could have been salvaged if Sonic PS360 hadn't been a study in horrendous load times, and the story (with teh bestiality), just bugged me. Shadow too could have been salvaged, just that the story was too emo and the inclusion of guns wasn't well-implemented
MasterInsan0 @ Aug 1st 2008 7:39PM
It almost looks too epic to be a Sonic game. I mean, when I think of Sonic I don't think of epic stories and devious plots against the world...I think of running really fast and jumping on some kind of mech driven by an egg-shaped fat man.
Ten years ago, the idea of a Sonic RPG would have made me crap my pants. Today, the image of Sonic is so tainted that it's hard to get excited for anything bearing his name.
Paul @ Aug 1st 2008 10:39PM
I CALL KNUCKLES!!!
Rob Accomando @ Aug 1st 2008 11:27PM
Somehow, "Sonic" and "Epic" don't sound right used in the same ad.
J.Goodwin @ Aug 2nd 2008 7:50AM
Oh, I see, it's a really slow, cell shaded version of Sonic 3D Blast with dialog trees.
Apparently Canadians make the same Sonic game that English people do, but a decade late.
Wiinterfang @ Aug 2nd 2008 2:02PM
Bioware? oh crap this game will have like a thousand glitches.
Geist @ Aug 3rd 2008 10:07PM
I have absolutely no idea what to think of this.
