Without an explanation for missing its Wednesday debut, Ticket to Ride Europe just arrived on XBLA to pick up customers for the weekend.
The expansion to the digitized European board game costs 600 MS points ($7.50), which is far cheaper than the $30+ set in real life. We haven't downloaded the Europe expansion yet, but let us know if the red/orange color similarity issue found in Ticket to Ride has been fixed.

I think I'm gonna be sad, I think it's today, Yeah
The girl that's driving me mad is going away
She's got a ticket to ride

but she don't care

The choo-choo train left right on time.
A ticket cost only your mind.
The driver said hey man, we go all the way.
Of course we were willing to pay!

I'm pissed it's 600 pnts, yet i'll most likely buy it anyway. :(
Also, you can solve the red/orange thing by clicking the route. Not that hard...

"Yeah, but..."
It's not quite as convenient when you're trying to plan your routes at a glance of the entire country map. Having to "click" into each one is just annoying.

Zooming doesn't work. Clicking them is the only way, and agreed it's annoying, but when you become obsessed, you do it anyway
I have 2400 MS points. Do i wait for Braid/Castle Crasher reviews (i might also buy Geo Wars 2), or just fuck it and buy this? Hmm......

I am a programmer with GUI experience, and actually wrote to the developer yesterday to complain about the color-distinction issue and offer my suggested fix:
1) When hovering over a track, highlight any matching cards in the player hand or in the draw deck.
2) Allow D-pad selection of hand-cards which would highlight any matching track segments or matching draw pile cards.
3) When drawing cards, highlight any matching track segments and hand cards.
This consistent feedback reinforcement loop would go miles towards making the game more playable for both color-blind and normal sighted players, so I hope that they use my suggestion in a patch.

Yeah, must suck to only have 3 cones and the highest rate of red-green colorblindness! Girl power! *scampers off*

Is it just a new map, or does it include the expanded and improved Europe gameplay elements? If it's just a new map, it isn't really worth the coin.

The real world game is expensive, but it's worth every penny. It's really high quality and it is AWESOME.

I concur! There's nothing like actually getting to physically lay down your Stockholm to Petrograd tunnel piece by piece while cackling menacingly at the other players.

My 360 was out for repair when Ticket to Ride first came out, and I've never played the actual board game. I did buy Catan, Carcassone, and Lost Cities day and date of their XBLA release and they are amongst my all time favorite Board / Card games and XBLA games.
I've got $40 to blow on LIVE (Birthday cash, otherwise I'm saving every penny for school!), and I intend to get Braid, Castle Crashers, and Bionic Commando: Rearmed when they release... Should I go for Ticket to Ride as well? Is it worth it?

Yes. Especially if you like Catan and Carcassone. the gameplay isnt the same or anything but they all have that good old german board game feel to it.
You should try it before you buy it... There is a free version of the game at (www.daysofwonder.com). You have to sign up but it is free. Click on PLAY and it is the first game. There is one catch... You cant START games. Ony people that bought the board game can START games (a code from the manual is required to unlock that feature). But you can join any game for free. It is NEVER hard to find a game, but with a lot of free gamers camping out, waiting for a created game to pop up, it is up to you to be fast and get in there before someone else does.
Still even on the worst days, it has never taken me longer then 3 or 4 minutes to find a game. Most times you can do it in under a minute.
They have both boards availible so check which one the game you want to join is. and dont forget...
2 or 3 players and the double tracks are disabled. They are only for 4 and 5 player games.

Thanks a lot. We ended up downloading it and loving it. I still have yet to get the longest route card, and I haven't seen a single person online yet, even with the Europe expansion.
Great game though!

I just want to know when they are going to release Puerto Rico or Power Grid.
There were some rumors that Puerto Rico was coming over early this year as an online version was taken down because someone had bought the digital rights to it. Since this was right when MS had Catan and Carcassone on XBL (at which time they were ranked in the teens on BoardGameGeek.com), people naturally thought that it was MS that had bought it. For the record, Puerto Rico was and still is number 1 on the list. Power Grid hovers around 2-4.
