WRUP: Geometrical crack edition

Getting both Soul Calibur IV and Geometry Wars 2 this week seems something like an embarrassment of riches. Truth be told, we have been nearly incapable of pulling ourselves away from Geometry Wars 2. It has quite honestly impacted our work-flow around here. It is the sole reason why this edition of WRUP has arrived so late. Comparing an addicting game to crack is an overused metaphor to be sure, but we find ourselves with a single metaphor that's more apt. Geomery Wars 2 is a helluva drug.

What will your drug of choice be this weekend?

I just picked up Unreal Tournament 3 today and I LOVE IT!! besides Halo 3, its the best Xbox Live game IMO. plus, there's split screen online! i'll be hittin that up plus Halo 3 all weekend with my brother.

I've been so close to buying that game. Your post just convinced me to do it. Congratulations, you talked me into wasting 60 more dollars :)

It's hard for me to spend 60 bucks on games these days. I use to drop it in a second, but I'm getting older, and I think that's stopping me.

Anyway. My launch day 360 just got the red rings of death a couple days ago. Luckily MS is still willing to fix it for free. Just sent it in yesterday, so I have a couple Xboxless weeks ahead. I'll probably pass the time with Pokemon Pearl and maybe some Patapon on my PSP. Things that rhyme with P FTW!

Oh wait. I mean start with P.

More Bad Company and trying to get my clan back into Call of Duty 4. BF:BC is a fine multiplayer game, but if you want to play with more than one other friend, good luck.

I'm also trying to track down a Blockbuster copy of Unreal Tournament 3.

Besides XBLA games, nothing will really pique my interest until September 30th.. (Silent Hill)

Oh man, I got this big bag of... I mean, I'm going to be playing Geometry Wars too!

Battlefield: Heroes beta!! Also, how does one get onto those leaderboards?

I would like to know as well. Although it looks like both leaderboards are at 250 users.

I was going to ask the same thing...why do they limit it to 250?

Nooooo! Why did I lend out my 360 controller to my mate this week. I guess I'll have to wait a while to get this little beauty.

Ironic metaphor there Richard, given that Geo Wars 2 seems like one of the best suited games to play while chemically enhanced.

Anyway, I'll be tucking into that, grinding through Lost Odyssey, and conquering the world in Civ Rev. Maybe a touch of Burnout Paradise and/or GRID to fulfill my driving game needs.

I just got into the Battlefield Heroes Beta, so I might try that out. Also am going to my buddy's house to do some Geo Wars 2 and Soul Calibur 4 Multiplayer. :)

BTW - how do you get up on that X3F leaderboard?

Finally have my new 360 and starting my winter vacations so....gaming all week, my list:

That's crazy. Still summer here. I'm kinda ready to move on to the next season, though.

OKAY....just bought GeoWars 2 and yeah, it's like a big hefty bag o' smack. Better than the first game!

I got my copy of UT3 from Gamefly this afternoon, so I'll be jumping in the mix there.

I have been playing mad crazy Unreal 3 it is unbelievable and when I'm not playing it I'm slashing through Soul Caliber 4 which also is amazing.
I'm almost finished with both at this point but man what a pair of games to be torn between.

Soul Calibur IV!!! Anyone got any tips to get past level 58 in the Ascending Tower? That AI is ridiculous!

i just got geometry wars and it is so crack. all i have to say is SCREW YOU WAX OFF, SCREW YOU.

Keep at it, you'll get there. Trick is doing a little section at a time, corralling (and killing) some of the squares, then crossing to another section....

Though to be fair I died 0.000000001 seconds after blinking out that last tile and getting the achievement.

i got it. after the 10000000 try. lol. now im tryin gameover, it shall take ame time. lol. and smile. that sounds hella hard. but those are the only ones i need an im done with the achievements, then i just need to get the #1 spots. lol

I'm right behind you, though for some reason the king one where you've got to activate 30 zones is kicking my ass. Loving this game.

this game really is crack...

sometimes i'll start it up just to check the high scores and i'll end up playing for hours...

not healthy at all
