Are you itching to get your hands on the much anticipated (and highly controversial) Final Fantasy XIII, yet you're not hip enough to get invited to Square Enix's exclusive soirees? If you live in Japan, your first chance to overcome your wicked triskaidekaphobia will come in the form of a FFXIII demo, packaged with the Blu-ray directors cut of the CGI feature film, Final Fantasy: Advent Children. You know, the Buscemi-less CGI Final Fantasy movie.
Square Enix revealed both film (titled Advent Children Complete) and demo at their DKΣ3713 event, with a Japanese release date of March 2009. The demo will also include video previews of Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Versus XIII (which they took care to mention is still a PS3 exclusive). Squeenix also announced a new PS3 SKU that will include the Blu-ray directors cut. What they didn't announce, however, was the American release date of the film -- and whether the demo and bundle will even make it to American shores.

Dear Square,
Please just burn this FF VII franchise. Only the truly mentally challenged people want a remake of that crap. Your countless rehashing of the series is becoming tiresome. And it makes smarter people notice how crap the original game was in the first place. And also just get rid of Nomura already, sure it will mean less sales. But you will still have credibility. Because when I think of Final Fantasy, I now think of generic shit storylines with the same one dimensional "stylish emo" characters. And also I'm happy you switched FF to 360. More people can realize how shit the game series is now. And also since you will take the time to port it on the 360 aswell as localizing for Europe and NA, well that means I won't be playing it so soon on my PS3. So it will mean I won't have to see the shitty game on shelves so soon.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the Nomura statement. Yes, he made FFVII but it's SE's fault for milking the cow far past its prime.
He's still developing original ideas to this date. While Kingdom Hearts is not the most revolutional in storyline, it's interesting to say the least.
And if you try and call The World Ends With You a bad game, then you're officially against ANY and ALL creativity in the gaming industry.
However, SE REALLY does need to let FFVII die already. As flashy and pretty as Advent Children was, it was nothing more than that. And god help us if they really do make an FFVII remake for the PS3. It would just be an unacceptable practice of money making.

Wasn't the original Advent Children the director's cut? It was a straight-to-DVD release; it's not like Squenix didn't have all of the time and capacity to make exactly the movie they wanted to make. The director didn't have to cut content for theatre running time, since it was never released in theatres (not counting the fan service events in Japan).

Bundles for a Demo? The Bundle better includes a f*cking game (May I suggest MGS4) otherwise they are ripping off FF fans Big time.

Yeah I know but what I'm saying is that a bundle with a movie alone isn't worth it,you can get better stuff for your money and FF fans probably have the movie already.
If you FF:AC already this is a rent.

Well, I don't think bundle itself is a big deal. It's pretty much the same as when Spiderman was bundled with the PS3. It's not the first movie bundle.
I do agree though that the demo itself should be made available without a movie purchase. Maybe it will at some point after the movie had been on shelves for a while.

Mr.ESC,
Thing is, SE fans tend to buy anything that SE releases! Hell, if SE was to release a FF:AC DVD with ONE extra scene, the fans WILL buy it

I want to believe that, but I really doubt it, the one that is looking for the demo will buy the Blu-Ray no matter how pissed they are, they make money out of that, they don't get anything out of making it available on XBL or PSN other than advertisement, but then again, Im sure as hell that both Sony and Microsoft will have huge ad campaigns for it, so SE doesn't need to worry about that...

Advent Children sucks. It made Spirits Within (which when you now look at it, is very underrated) look like a masterpiece.

I actually enjoyed spirits within. Mainly because unlike AC, it made sense.

Spirits Within was great, maybe a few years later people will realize how much better it was than Advent Children....I hope. At least it tried to have a plot like samfish said.

Whats really gonna chap ps3 fanboy @$$ is when it sells better on the 360. That will be epicly awesome. But seriously, get over it. FFXIII on 360. Nothing you can do about it.

as explained before, the problem is that it does affect you since when titles go multiplatform they tend to not take full advantage of the systems...
Publishers/Developers have to take the chance to either release it for 1 platform and take full advantage of it, or make it available to most of the consoles but in that case you would have to compromise many things.
Imagine how much more awesome could CoD4 have been if it was exclusive, do you really think MGS4 could have been the same if it was multiplatform?
