Parasite Eve follow-up moves onto PSP

It's been eight long years since we've last seen our favorite Mitochondria-battling cop, Aya Brea, in Square's survival horror/RPG hybrid series Parasite Eve. Well, that's not exactly true, we did catch a glimpse of her contemplating eating a bullet sandwich following the announcement that the long awaited next installment in the series would be released exclusively on mobile phones. Luckily, it seems Aya and RPG fans alike have dodged said bullet -- during their DKΣ3713 Private Party event, Square Enix announced that this new chapter in the series will now be making its way to the PSP. It's unclear whether a mobile version of the title is still in development.
Not much is known about the game, titled The 3rd Birthday. A trailer at Squeenix's exclusive shindig didn't have any gameplay or details about the game, though it did show Aya in a wedding dress, aiming a pistol at a shadowy figure standing in the doorway of what we assume is her wedding chapel. A gunfight on your wedding day? Isn't it ironic... don't you think?

Sweet, I've been looking for a good PSP game to purchase after beating FF7:Crisis Core and Patapon. Looks like this will be a good time to jump into the Parasite Eve universe. Especially since mobile games can sometimes be a prelude to a next gen sequel.

I'm not sure what to say...should I quote another song?
Jose El Maton @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:04PM
Yay! One of my favorite series...s. Two games ain't enough, man! Hope they start popping these out every couple years from now on.
4MyFriends @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:05PM
At least it didn't go to the NDS, Nintendo doesn't deserve anymore decent 3rd party software(not like they don't know what it is going off of Wii support!)
Neebs @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:10PM
Why are you troll baiting? Just look in a mirror.
Shaq-Fu @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:13PM
You know how I know 4myfriends is a jackass? He does shit like this and then bitches and moans when he gets called out.
jimmygotsmack @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:22PM
Lol, everyone saw right through your trolling.
Donald @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:11PM
Nomura is working on it, so the over/under on combined belts+zippers on Aya's outfit is 15.
Also, SquareEnix? FFIV: The After port to DS. Now. In fact, yesterday.

WHAT!?
Dude, we're running out of hot gaming chicks...
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Aug 2nd 2008 7:10PM
No we aren't, man. Play an Atlus RPG, like any of the SMT games. I suggest Persona 3.
J @ Aug 2nd 2008 8:41PM
Aren't persona 3 characters underage? and didn't atlus publish disgaea for ps2 featuring childlike looking characters? Both awesome games, but we ARE talking about "hot" gaming chicks, and you thought of THOSE games.
Teehee, don't worry. It's not you're fault you're into underage looking girls. lawls, http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1809/disgaea1280x1024dq0.jpg
You probably have this one already.
Iiii'm just teasin'. :P sorry.

Hey J why don't you take a seat right over there...
J @ Aug 3rd 2008 2:07AM
did you misunderstand me, mr esc?
eh watever, at least i was acknowledged :)
J @ Aug 3rd 2008 11:48AM
I disagree with you Donald. Nomura isn't that impractical. You've only seen his works for sci fi fantasy worlds. Aya Brea's world is more current and realistic, albeit what can be done in that world is not. But it's grounded. She uses realistic guns, she works in law enforcement, i don't remember if it's as a detective or a police officer or FBI. I played and beat PE2 like 10 times, but it's been a while so i forgot the story a little. Nomura will probably keep it simple for this game. If anything, i'm looking forward to some cool futuristic military gear. Maybe she'll wear some sort of protective body suit. yum. I hope the way she looks will be more dynamic. In PE2, no matter what equipment you wear, aside from weapons, she ALWAYS looked the same. I also hope they get the anatomy better for ingame models, because i'll admit, in PE2, when u run around, they made her thighs kinda big. That I remember. Of course she was always sexy in cutscenes.
Now we all know how far out there square can be for fantasy worlds. But I wonder how creative they can be, when designing a game based on a more realistic world since it's been a while that they have.

Haha, guess I didn't think of that...
zxcvbvcxz @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:34PM
I have a friend that looks exactly like her and a week I had a dream that she committed suicide by shooting herself. Man this is such a creepy thing to see.
zbarron @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:30PM
Great. Looking forward to this.
kataztrophy @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:40PM
Another non-homebrew reason I'm getting a PSP later this year.
Shaq-Fu @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:41PM
Next up: Square Enix announces Parasite Eve is no longer PSP/Mobile exclusive, will be coming to the 360 as soon as they finish the PSP version
/sorry, couldn't resist
Jacksons @ Aug 2nd 2008 6:34PM
Okay?
syrik zero @ Aug 2nd 2008 5:50PM
I honestly made two comments about the Parasite Eve games today, having no idea another was coming out soon! Both of them under the "Dead Space Animated Comic: Issue 4" post. Damn, this has made my day! Thanks Griffin!! Guess I'm buying a PSP now.... Any word on the 3000?
Shiaoran @ Aug 2nd 2008 7:25PM
ABOUT FRIGGIN TIME, SQUEENIX!
Mr.ESC @ Aug 3rd 2008 12:39AM
I'll virtually buy any game with zombies in it.
Lord Bowser @ Aug 3rd 2008 5:14AM
The PSP is my favourite platform, but this is a Squaresoft game, a Squaresoft game which has its origins on a mobile phone...
...did development go poorly on the mobile? Or did Squaresoft see the project as financially unviable? I'll keep an eye out on it, but I'm not going to get too excited, or anything.
Bobill @ Aug 3rd 2008 4:19PM
Lord Bowser before you go on further with your "rant" let me state that Parasite Eve is anything much like Resident Evil but was more in depth and honestly more fun.
Also this game goes back to it's on the Playstation if I recall. Although I can agree that seeing one of my favorite games be brought back in such a crappy return for a portable system. If Squaresoft wasn't so fucking greedy they might consider actually making a true sequel.
To those that mentioned Atlus I seriously have to remind you that them too neglect worthy titles of sequels by making the same type of bullshit rpgs. BRING BACK OGRE BATTLE 64!
Not being an asshole just letting out somethings I had on my chest for awhile.
