Surprised Splatterhouse isn't the TG-16 version, since that came out first.

...has anyone actually played the SMS Sonic?

Played it? I've never even heard about it before! Heck, even the Game Gear version looks better.

They probably know it better as Sonic 1 on the Game Gear.

We were also supposed to be getting Ys and Samurai Showdown 2; now I figured one or maybe even two of those were going to be wrong, but all three? Lame.

Not just lame, ULTRA lame. That's fine, though... Nintendo can just keep shortchanging Wii owners, because if they won't sell them the games they want, they'll find other ways to get them.

I thought the TG-16 version of Splatterhouse already came out. Have they actually run out of games, such that they're releasing ports now? It hasn't even been two years..

Hedgehogs aren't marsupials. You're probably thinking of echidnas, but, technically, those aren't marsupials either.

If you click the "Source" link, you'll see it's actually Splatterhouse 2 this week, not the original.

Why does this Sonic remind me of Ducktales on the NES?

I think so. They did very well throughout 2007, but have been coming up short all year

They need to get it together, especially with titles that aren't available free on GameTap: i.e., the Nintendo titles

Hedgehogs aren't marsupials. Maybe you were thinking of echidnas (like Knuckles), which actually aren't marsupials either. They're monotremes (egg-laying mammals).

The Master System/Game Gear version of Sonic The Hedgehog isn't just a crappy port, it's mostly brand new and really challenging. It's rather good, actually.

My memory may have faded a bit since childhood, but I'm pretty sure that Sonic on the Master System was the first Sonic released in Australia.

I bought it and it was fantastic.

Perhaps Oz didn't have the Genesis at that stage?

Worse framerate ever, it must be a crappy emulator.

Nah, just a crappy recording uploaded to crappy YouTube.

Seriously, folks, YouTube is the WORST place to upload videos to if you care about framerate.

The original looks a LOT better than that. The music and (no?) sound were butchered too.

Here's a better video for comparison. It's Green Hill Zone, but totally different layout to the Genesis version.

Wow, I remember that level in the Game Gear game, I think it was like '95 when I last played that game. I loved that Sonic game, as well as the Donald Duck game they had on that system.
