Atlus to inject PS2 with Eternal Poison this November
The PS2's library is about to get a bit more toxic, as Atlus announced that it will localize Japan's Poison Pink in North America, calling the strategy RPG by the less interesting title, Eternal Poison. In typical Atlus fashion, the game looks decidedly niche, though if its promise of "a uniquely dark aesthetic" and "classic tactical gameplay" isn't enough to win you over, note that each copy will also come packaged with a soundtrack CD as well.
Developed by Flight Plan, the studio behind Summon Night, Eternal Poison may be difficult to cure, but you have until the game arrives at retail on November 11 to get inoculated. Until then, check out some screenshots and the game's opening movie below.

Note to Atlus: We're on PS3 now. Please come and join us.

Man, everyone knows that the PS3 can't render all those grids, numbers AND tiny little character portraits at the same time! Why do you think it's taking so long for Disgaea 3 to come out?

(no, I don't work for Atlus)

These titles are already niche releases on the PS2, and it's got a hellllllllll of a bigger install base than the PS3 will have for years, if it even catches up at all. (Not doubting the PS3, simply complimenting the outrageous sales of its predecessor)
It makes sense for them.

@John Z: 360 is cool with me.

Sony needs to inject some rat poison into the PS2, concentrate on the PS3
sibladeko @ Aug 5th 2008 9:34AM
Of all the godamn Flight Plan games to localize they went with Poison Pink?

Given Atlus' recent offerings on the 360, I'm quickly losing my faith in what was once my favorite publisher.

Why, because they publish a lot of SRPGs, and then they brought the only SRPGs on the 360 to the US?
Oh, shame on Atlus, for trying to open up the SRPG market.
On top of that, if you're willing to give the graphics a pass, Spectral Force 3 and Operation Darkness are actually pretty decent.

don't count on it

Holy crap.
For every battle there is that much loading time? That just put my interest at the game down to 0. It looks awesome but I'd be throwing things if I had to wait that long multiple times every turn.
BigD145 @ Aug 5th 2008 1:49PM
That's why I will rip to my hard drive. Load times? What load times?

I'm cool with it being a ps2 game. My system is up and running, these games still look good on ps2 tech, we get a bonus soundtrack and the price is right.

Thank you, Atlus, for not putting this game on the PS3. It just means that I can hold off on getting a PS3. PS2 is still fine for me, and the only PS3 game I see now that I want is Disgaea 3.
Besides, PS2 makes more sense. There are more PS2s out there than PS3s, and PS3 users can still pop this game into their PS3 and play it, though I don't know how much longer that will last.
PS2 was a damn good console, and I'll be damned if a company's going to force me to upgrade to another console. I'm pretty much going to follow Atlus/NIS on consoles, so wherever they go, that's where I'm going. Obviously the PS2 isn't going to last forever, but if they could hold it out as long as possible, I'd be pleased to get every bit of life I can out of the PS2. Of course, moving to PSP, DS, or Wii (the only other systems I own) would be a nice fix too.

I'm grateful they are releasing this game on the PS2.
It costs less to make games on DVDs rather than Blu-Rays,
More people have a PS2 (aka haven't spent $500+ on a new console with limited games),
With the library of PS2 games running out in 2009, chances are this will get a great deal of attention,
Atlus makes great games. 'nough said.
@BigD145: Exactly. What load times?
Can't wait for Dokapon.
