The Wii Sports formula -- accessible sports-based minigames -- has worked once again. Hudson sent out a press release announcing that 700,000 copies of Deca Sports have shipped worldwide. Just imagine how much business the company would have done if they had kept the ridiculous Sporta name around the world? Probably a bit less, actually.
Hudson, naturally pleased by this development, announced that they are committed to creating more hit franchises like Deca Sports, which probably means that they're going to hang around on Nintendo consoles. We expect Deca Sports to continue doing good business, as exactly the kind of "evergreen" game that Nintendo loves.

Man that sucks. Shovelware continues to do well on the Wii. I guess it helps when there's now a good chuck of the wii population that know nothing about games and just read a box art and buy cause "It's like wii sports, but more!"

I share your pain man. It seems like Nintendo has created an environment where awful games and lazy developers thrive and good games and talented developers suffer, which I thought was against what the Wii (and Nintendo) was supposed to be all about. I loved the potential of the Wii, so I really hate seeing it drowning in shovelware. The worst part is that Nintendo actually encourages this sort of casual dreck to be released, they even help promote it! So how can they expect developers to support the Wii when the games that they've put their heart and soul into are just going to be outsold by some half-assed, dirt cheap piece of crap like Deca Sports, Big Beach Sports, Carnival Games, Sports Party, Game Party, etc, etc, etc.

Normally, i'd say that shovelware would be the death of a console, but Nintendo is making billions selling this crap...
Looks like my once beloved Wii is going down the tubes. Time to sell it and get a PS3 or a 360...something with "real" games on it...not this B.S.

I feel that anyone who doesn't have Psychonauts (etc.) in their game library has no rational basis for complaining about shovelware. You brought this on yourselves.

Exactly. Okami, as well. But a new Double Fine production would definately drive me to get a secondary console. Loves me some Tim Schafer games.
