Deca Sports reaches 700,000 units shipped
We've been unable to verify recent speculation (which we totally made up, just now) that Hudson has shipped all those units directly to a New Jersey landfill, but we have our suspicions. Still, we can't help but wonder if a few copies of Deca Sports have actually passed through retail checkouts, purchased by Wii owners desperate to rediscover the riotous, wrist-racketing revelry that faded from the living room once they ran out of friends who hadn't tried Wii yet. Well, they sure got what they paid for: a Wii Sports knockoff ... made with the craft and care of a drunk baboon.

TheOverlord#2 can has Animals Crossing? @ Aug 5th 2008 8:04PM
First, it's only $30. Second, it's a casual game for the Wii.
Why are you surprised?

Carnival Games sold well, why wouldn't this?

Finally, Quality Original Game Design and Development pays off.
Lorne Lanning, sir... You can safely slip back into business and finish up The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klott.

I can confirm that it does sell having sold quite a few myself. I haven't sold 700,000, but I've sold at least 6 or 7 since it came out.

That landfill in NJ has to be the Gamestop i work at, we sell out every week, for some reason people like it...

NINTENDO IS KILLING THE INDUSTRY, WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
uranutan3 @ Aug 5th 2008 8:41PM
The children are the ones buying this crap.
Kspraydad @ Aug 5th 2008 9:04PM
I did...made up a bunch of "This game is crap...don't buy it" stickers and place them on as many Wii 3rd party games as humanly possible.
JB87 @ Aug 5th 2008 9:14PM
Since when are crappy 3rd-party games Nintendo's fault?
Burnt Meatloaf @ Aug 6th 2008 4:57AM
@JB87: Like it or not, the captain is always responsible for the crew.
Geist @ Aug 6th 2008 4:03PM
That's a pretty retarded analogy. It's better to say that Nintendo is the boatmaker, and the developers are the people who use the boats. If they use them in shitty ways, that's not Nintendo's fault. They just provide the boat.
Sesur @ Aug 5th 2008 8:51PM
This is the Wii-Generation in action. Thanks a bunch Nintendo...
Shaq-Fu @ Aug 5th 2008 9:42PM
Whos trying harder to Troll bait? You, or 4MF?
Sesur @ Aug 5th 2008 10:32PM
good one!
Shaq-Fu @ Aug 5th 2008 9:51PM
Folks, thats only shipped. They could ship 1,000,000 copies, but it only matters if they sell all 1,000,000 copies. They could've sold 50 games for all we know
Burnt Meatloaf @ Aug 6th 2008 5:07AM
Not this crap again, please.
Bottom line: it's selling well, and that means something else more deserving is not.
BIGFAT @ Aug 5th 2008 10:25PM
if i was a developer just coming into the business i would say fuck Wiiware,XBLA, and PSN. All my games would go to retail as full blown wii minigame collections.
i woundnt have to use no effort and still sell and make a killing.
Now thats the life.
NewJohnny @ Aug 14th 2008 8:08PM
I waited months for this game to come out, then bought it last week. TOTAL POS. This will be the last sports game for the Wii I ever buy (except for Wii Sports 2).
Example of bad design:
Figure skating seems pleasant enough and there's the usual skating music track playing. But for some idiotic reason, there's a loud DING every time you hit a mark. Considering there's already a visual clue (it pops), it's completely useless and ruins the play with an incessant dinging throughout the whole set, drowning out the music AND making me insane. There's a ton of other similiar things like this but my rant is over. Don't buy it.
