The place: Game Developer's Conference, San Francisco. The date: March 2007. LittleBigPlanet was revealed to the world, some nineteen months before its eventual October 2008 release date. We'll be honest: we count ourselves among that group of people that Media Molecule developer Alex Evans says "didn't see it coming." Sony's knockout PS3 exclusive still excites us, and Evans, remembering that initial reveal, tells Eurogamer, "I want to do another LittleBigPlanet reveal that people don't see coming." Oh, you tease! Give us something!
Evans elaborated, "It's still LittleBigPlanet, but people will be saying, 'I thought it was this - now you're telling me it's this as well?!'" So, we thought LBP was this – namely, an uncommonly creative console game with an unprecedented level of user-generated functionality – but Evans wants to tell us it's something else as well? A time machine perhaps? The alchemical secret to transmutating lead into gold? LittleBigPlanet PSP? What?

You're a fucking idiot, I troll the wii a lot not the 360. I have a god damn 360 for christ's sake, and have most likely played it more than you and premier asshole combined.
If you're going to throw blanket statements out like that you should do the research first before you make yourself look like a dumbass, because just about EVERYONE here knows I hate and troll the wii, not 360. Tard.

Sorry I just had to come back and re-iterate how much of a dumbass you are. You solidified yourself with 1 comment as one of the top 3 or 5 dumbasses on this site.
Seriously I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for you to do your homework next time before calling someone a certain fanboy. You might as well have called Fernando a PS3 fanboy just now.

Someone's a little bit touchy. Don't let mommy catch you typing that foul language.
I've seen you comment on several posts anytime someone tries to praise a game. You're Mr. Antihype everything unless it's exactly what you want.
I've seen your rants and poor defenses all over the boards. There's no hiding it behind your 3rd grade insults.

Well unless you think me ripping on wii games is bashing on the 360 (which quite frankly, given the intelligence of your first comment I could be lead to believe), you need to look a little harder next time than blindly calling me a 360 basher of all things.
Come back when you've actually got something to fight with.

There's no "winning" with someone like you. You'll make up whatever it takes to be the one upper. Some examples:
*Claiming to have all systems, therefore making the person arguing with you wrong regardless of topic.
*Bashing a game then insulting/cursing someone else for disagreeing with you, as you've done here already.
*Saying the other person has no argument or saying they lack intelligence or anything else which would give the illusion that you are correct.
You only want to argue since someone called you out on something and you got caught with your pants down. It's okay to admit you're wrong.

When have I ever said I owned all 3 systems? I've stated many times I would rather be crucified than have a wii, so I don't think I ever said I had a wii. I only have a 360 and ps3.
Also since you're either acting stupid beyond belief or really are, here ya go.

I'm sorry, what were you saying about someone's pants being down? Please for the sake of all Joystiq, never post again. You spouted more stupidity in one article than PerfectCompanion has in his last 10.

Like I said, IT'S THE EFFING EDITOR. Dang. Anyway, the controls do look like they might be awkward for gameplay. What say you people who have played it. Also, who knows, maybe you will be able to shoot things, think Mega Man remakes.

I think it's going to be that the ability to create dong and swastika-based levels is going to be BUILT IN. This is the future, people.

Sonic and Megaman in LBP?

The big secret is that you're actually going to start off as a tiny grain, that has to wander around eating other bits of grain to survive. You'll also collect bits of thread, which will serve to personalize your individual sackboy.
Eventually you'll reach the point where you'll have a society of sackboys. Advance far enough and you'll be able to leave your "little big planet" to visit other people's Little Big Planets.
Think of it, a whole universe of little big planets, all evolved in radically different methods from the most humble of beginnings, the individual spo..err, grain.

Being able to make levels of other games is just icing on the already delicious cake. It is awesome because you can make pretty much anything that you can think of. I just know that there will be those level remakes and am excited by that as well as the editor itself.
I guess you just don't have an imagination and/or are one of those people that buy every Madden or Final Fantasy game. Either way, it's too bad you don't find the idea of making your own game interesting.

The secret is that Sony and Nintendo have collaborated explaining they are no longer competitors, allowing Media Molecule to use any and all of Nintendo's ip's in LBP, in return allowing the use of Sony's ip's in one future game (Smash Bros. 84)

Mexican soap opera?
Actually, if Sony plays their cards right with this title they could have one helluva PR tool on their hands. Imagine if every new major Sony release (exclusives mind you) came with packed with its own LBP level?
That, or they release a game specific level just prior to a major game's release. Playing as a mini Sackboy Helghast in a Killzone themed level the week leading up to the release of the game would be a great way to build hype. Screen shots and level details in the background to tease the players.
Just hoping the Sony can figure this out.

Hah, Sony fanboy not be I. Bioshock, played it on 360. Oblivion, own it on 360. COD4, want to take a guess. The reality is, I only have, what, three PS3 games, two of which I don't even play.
No, the truth is that the only console you can say I hate on is the Wii. I'm not spending $250 on a Gamecube with a different controller. Smash Bros. is awesome though.
In case you were wondering I only have Spider-Man 3, Warhawk, and of course MGS 4. I only play MGS. I'm not even that excited about Killzone 2, although I thought that the single player for 1, from what I played, was pretty fun.

"I would have never guessed. :P"
I meant that's all I play on PS3 aside from PSN and PS2 titles. I never really tried to get in to Warhawk. I mostly play the the 360. I haven't had any money to get Soul Calibur 4. Yoda is the master, I just hope Vader (I heard he was lame) will be DLC soon.

To the people who think the reveal is about 360: Yes, that would be Faaanf*cking tastic (hey, why shouldn't everyone get to play such a cool game, right?), but-and it's a huge but- there is no way Microsoft would ever let this game go through its online certification process given the sheer amount of focus that Media Molecule is putting on the user-generated content aspects of the game. Just look at the trouble Criterion and Epic had in getting their add-ons and mods approved by MS.

After MS saw the reaction they got from the FF announcement, I'm sure it'd be given the fast track through certification if it did come down to that.

A somewhat more fundamental problem is the fact that the game is published by Sony -- i.e. all development funding and distribution rights are theirs. The franchise itself may also be owned by Sony (that part's not as clear).
I kind of doubt they'd hand it to their competitor.

Lol, why the heck did your reply get voted down? If MS did get a hold of the game (implausible as that is since SCEE is publishing), what you said was perfectly realistic. It wasn't a fanboy statement at all. People must just be voting you down for the hell of it now.

LittleBigPlanet cutscene creator. Make your own cutscenes to add a story to your homemade levels.

Believe it or not it's already been confirmed that you can make your own cutscenes. Now, how deep or complex you can make them is another question and one I don't know the answer to.

You know you just might be right about that..
I've been totally excited about this game since I first saw it. For me, this is a system seller.
And why do these discutions always turn into sony vs ms vs people who thinks Nintendo desserted them?
I hope this game does well. It's so freakin' cool. Might get tired of creating levels after a week, but other people always make something cool.

I personally wouldn't want to get LBP for myself on 360, simply because my HD is pretty much full on it.
Another thing on that "Lol sony arrogance at its best.
If you don't like any sony games you're NOT a gamer. End of the matter. NO DISCUSSION. It's OVER." comment, I hated the demo for Uncharted and Folklore.
Go ahead and hate some PS3 games, just don't hate something for the sake of hating it, that's stupid. I'm looking forward Banjo, but I'm afraid they might stray too far from what made the other game good (I never played Tooie).

Thank God someone has finally expressed a similarly held opinion of my own. What is the big deal with LBP? Yes, the graphics look fantastic but the physics seem 'floaty' (maybe intentional) and the gameplay looks 'alright' and I have next to no interest in creating my own levels (with actually having a life and everything). Having said that, it may end up being the reason I get a PS3, along with GOW3 and the ICO project. We'll see. But for now, I don't buy the hype! I'll have to be convinced.

I am curious - why so many posts about why we should not be exicted about this game? Even I am not too keen on this title, but why waste your time and ours writing about it? And thankfully, something new, not a copy-paste of some existing game (Gears 2/ Ninja Gaiden 2 for instance)
