Konami announced that Solid Snake's final (?) adventure gave the company a nice macro-injection of cash. GameDaily reports the publisher saw revenues jump 116% to $656 million in the first quarter, with net income rising 47% to $52 million. Although Konami isn't just in the video game business, the company states sales of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots are "steadily increasing," noting that the games division contributed the most to its revenues.
Konami continues its positive outlook for the rest of the fiscal year (ending March '09) with $3 billion in revenue and a net income of $240 million. Imagine how much more the company can make if giggle-inducing rhythm-game Rock Revolution is a hit and it wins the Rock Band lawsuit?

Nice.
I'm watching the bonus bluray disc that came with MGS now. Pretty inneresting to see how Kojima's team works and how much liberties they have.

To konami, sold doesn't really matter. Shipped is what matters because they essentially sell all the video games they ship to the stores they ship it to. And that's it. So after they ship it, how many video games they actually sell to people doesn't really matter. I think they should have shipped at least 3 million.

Hmm. Never noticed it before, but that picture could fit quite well into "OVER 9000!"
Also, isn't this news obvious? I pretty much bought the PS2 on premise of MGS2, and I knew a few others who did the same thing. Wouldn't imagine MGS4 would be much different.
And I haven't heard of many big Konami games released recently.

Well done for a fine piece of work - probably the most perfect game ever.
Does anyone know how many people worked on this game and what was the development cost? I guess would already have made a tidy profit, should hit 5-6 million overall.

I'd say if they ever actually put EFFORT into their Bemani titles, they could all do better.
But looking at gameplay vids between rock band and rock revolution, it's night and day. Konami may as well be realising it under the Imagine label for DS.

probably not because they don't need to. they can have you download extras along the way, or all at once. already got some extra costumes (a staple in these re-releases)
