Podcast Rodeo for August 5: Ear Factor

ButtonMashers: One of our favorite activities on the Rodeo is finding brand new podcasts that have some promise and helping them to take their first steps, like Forrest Gump-style cybernetic legs. After just its seventh episode, ButtonMashers has already found itself a good flow, as well as a nice rapport between its hosts. In this episode, there's an extensive discussion comparing the DS and PSP, and it reminds us how much we like it when podcasts slow down and have a really thorough discussion of the topic at hand.
1UP FM: We're still trying to expose those who haven't heard about it to 1UP's excellent new feature-heavy cast, 1UP FM. This week, in addition to the usual stuff, there's a discussion of Skate 2 with an EA staffer and a discussion of the next generation of consoles that we are so not ready to have.
Joystiq Podcast: You can listen to a lot of podcasts this week, but you're not going to find one with a better episode title than "King of Snacks." We don't remember anything else that happened in this despicably long episode, but, hey, King of Snacks.
Awesome Video Games: It's likely a misuse of our considerable power, but, when we're not bringing your attention to fresh podcasts, we like to draw you to old ones that haven't been updated in a bit in the hopes of summoning them back from the grave. In this vein, we present Awesome Video Games' incredible three-part epic of Cousin Lester and the Game Genie. Watch, enjoy, and hope for more.
If you have a cast you'd like featured, drop a line to rodeo aat joystiq dawt com. We'll listen, we promise! Even if nobody else does, we will.

1up Yours of course is the best and most informative podcast in the industry. CAGCast is always entertaining.

1up Yours is great when Jon is on. He tends to keep them focused. I still like the show but I agree with Justin's comments on the recent joystiq podcast.

The Video Game Jocks Podcast is always a fun show and we recently had PS3 Fanboy's Jem Alexander as a guest on the show. Check it out.

I love Michael Abbott's The Brainy Gamer Podcast. He has a very different style and offers very different analysis. He also knows and interviews a lot of vid game bloggers I'm a fan of like Mitch Krpata and Leigh Alexander. He also did N'Gai recently.
Anyway, definitely check him out!

Im not a big fan of Dustin but i do think their podcast is better. Give em a whirl. You'll easily notice the X3F podcast is a lot more entertaining.

I have to agree. Except for the dead air moments when I ignore the endless "I wuv Hawo fwee and Gears of War so much" from some guy who wouldn't know a good game if it slapped him in the face, and said "Pulling a Luke Smith only happens once," the X3Fancast is a great listen.
And I realize that Bryan Intihar and Che Chou also do exist, but not in the same insane love in with a game that Luke had with Bungie while he was with 1up.

tried xbox360 fancast for a while, then stopped then tried the past few, and meh kind of monotone and a little annoying, okay but Joystiq all the way. Player One Podcast is a good one to check out
