So there was talk about Stuart Beattie – you may know him better as that guy adapting Gears of War for the big screen – giving the stalled Halo movie some much needed TLC in the form of a new script based on Eric Nylund's novel Halo: Fall of Reach. The original source of that rumor now claims to have five pieces of concept art from the new script, which are all part of "an eventual presentation" to be given to the fat cats at Microsoft. Here's where you come in: they'll be dropping one a week on y'all for the next five weeks.
We've got some concept art for a Halo movie right here: it's called Halo 3 and it's a whole DVD full of aliens, 'splosions, and Master Chiefs. But if you've just got to see a larger version of the above concept art, we won't stop you from clicking that Source link below.

Looks like fun!
A Halo movie would suck, but a Halo ride at 6 Flags? That's where the money is.

any of the books (except for the flood - the halo:ce adaptation) would make good movies. I remember reading contact harvest (first one I read) thinking that they could easily make it into a movie that I would want to watch...and MC wasn't even in it. Fall of reach sounds like a good choice if they can balance out the covenant battles with spartan creation stories...

hmmm... Right now I am a little skeptic. It looks nice, and I have heard about the second script. Maybe it's real and this will also be announced at the special event Microsoft was talking about when they kept bungie from announcing the game they were making.

I sure hope Gears 2 makes the idea of a movie seem like a better idea to me. I liked Gears 1, but there really wasn't much story. I heard that Cliff B. wanted to make moke story driven games again, so hopefully the story in Gears 2 is more fleshed out.

Thats why I'm hoping the next Unreal is just...Unreal (with a true story and campaign) and not Unreal Tourney.

Screw a movie. With concept art like that they should be thinking about Halo 4: Super Master Chief Galaxy. Complete with Mii, I mean Avatar support.

Damn, where do all these spelling errors keep coming from? I meant to put "make more story driven games".

I'm a big Halo fan, but that art just looks, well, pardon my language, 'hella gay'.

apparently you weren't paying attention when the article stated it was concept art.

Just because it's concept art doesn't mean it can't look stupid. What's with the Spartans-as-torpedoes? I thought that was a joke pic before I read that it was real.

I don't know about a lot of people here, but I loved the first novel and had very high hopes they would use it as the story for the halo movie. I'm not one of those over obsessed halo fans, but I really like halo. The story in the book would make for a very good movie that is if they follow very closely to the actual story and don't take it a different direction. I really hope that isn't what happens

Thanks Strange. I never even thought to look.
I WAS excited about a Halo movie until I saw those live action shorts(shudder). That Niel guy was a hack. I'm not one of those huge Peter Jackson fans, but if they are going to do a movie, he has to direct. Even though Transformers was freaking awesome, I don't think Bay would be good.
Del Toro's imagination would go too far (Hellboy 2, still good though). Finally Spielberg hasn't, to my knowledge, done anything very good lately.

So I finished the book a few days ago.
And I'd like to know if I missed it, or there was a part where 3 Spartans were flying through space?

It's a spec script. That means he wrote it on his own and is shopping it around. Thus, it doesn't imply any actual intention by a movie company to make a Halo movie.
I could write a spec script for a Kirby movie, make some art and shop it around. That wouldn't mean N is up to making a Kirby movie.

Fall of Reach has a great "humanity" hook. I think the fans of the game would love a movie that introduces them to how the Master Chief became the Master Chief. Also, the introduction of John 117 to Cortana is a great story to be told as well. Not to mention seeing more than just one Spartan in action at a time.
For those of you who haven't read the story, at least in parts of the book there are hundreds of Spartans in action. That would be something to see on the big screen...given a healthy budget that is.

I loved the book as much as the next guy but you're embellishing just a bit methinks.
Ive got a memory like a sieve but I thought there were only 75 or so spartan recruits to begin with.
Only 42 of which were alive after the augmentation process.
Only 30 of those fit to fight.

I'm content with merely the idea that a Halo movie isn't dead. Its a solid sci-fi universe, not just a game based on a video game. Mass Effect has also created a viable universe as well. These are stories that with the right director and special effects team could make a summer blockbuster easily.
Special effects = exciting trailer = audience filling seats.
Keeping the story solid and compelling is the hard part, but most of the work is done if they base it off an already completed and (mind you) very good novel that stands on its own.
