When we try to convince people to play World of Warcraft, it's usually because we despise them and want their real world lives to crumble around them as they try to convince themselves that their new sword is so much better than their last one. But be careful: Thanks to Blizzard's new recruiting push, others' motives for trying to rope you in may not be so pure.
Those who invite friends to the game and persuade them to pay for two months up front will get a free Zhevra mount, the ability to summon their referred friends and triple experience when they're questing together, up to level 60. It's tempting, but we hear that if you recruit a friend to Fury, you get the whole game. You know, just something to think about.

Am I the only one thinking of starting another account to get the triple experience?

I'm sure countless people are thinking about it. =)
Blegh. I just played the 10 day trial-- had my best MMO experience ever, and then barely resisted buying it.
This is going to make it harder.

I wonder if all XP you get is tripled or just the quest turn in XP...I also noticed this XP effect only lasts for 60 days.
If you do get 3X the XP for everything not just quest turn ins, how much XP gain is that taking into account 2 people are reciving XP for all kills? Does it work out to be about 2x the XP of solo killing?
These are questions I must have answered.
Im also going to assume that this is not cumulative, I mean I don't get 6x the XP if im with 2 friends who got invites do I?

Just found this on the site as well:
Also, for every two levels of experience your friend earns, they can grant one level of experience to one of your lower-level characters.
SOLD!

Maybe not:
Also, if the two characters are not the same level, only the lower-level character is given the experience boost.

At triple XP your gonna have to give GOLD to your alts to afford their abilities, theres no way they will earn enough money by playing with triple experience.
I'm really bombing this thread sorry.

Yeah, that's why I've never touched the stuff. I know all it would take is one hit and I'd be gone. Don't want to take my chances.

I'm certainly debating it.. if only for the mount.. then cancel the account after 60 days.. ^_~ I have 3 PC's in the house and my Mac laptop, so it's not like I can't dual-box.

Man, this is lame, even for Blizzard.
So desesperated are to get more users?. So scared are of the fact that Age of Conan is ripping of their user install base?. So scared are of Warhammer???
face it Blizzard, you have been the MMO of choice for many (not mine, never was, never will), just like any other succesfull MMO, you were the succesor of Ragnarok Online, its time to let another MMO wear the crown

First AoC blows and is going under, they've already lost from 40-60% of the initial playbase they had. Blizzard has nothing to fear from them, but why not make a little mor scratch and promote a multiplayer game by getting people to play the game as it was intended to be played multiplayer with friends.

What's a "Zhevra mount?" And does the ability to summon referred friends mean you can just teleport them to wherever you are?
Yes, you're right in assuming I don't play WoW, so that's why I'm wondering.

A Zhevra looks like a Zebra, and a mount means that you can ride it.
Being able to summon a player to you once and hour is a nice bonus. They could summon themselves away to train then you could zap them back to where you were, and of course they could return the favor.
It all means faster leveling.

I dont understand how you people call this desperate? This is a GENIUS marketing move on their part. They know that so many hardcore WoW players would start up an account just to get a mount.........let alone other things like 3k exp and free lvling. Will it bring in more players? Who knows.....but they know that they are going to get atleast 2 months pay out of alot of WoW players.
As for the comments about WoW being scared of AoC and Warmhammer? LOL! Sorry, dont know what you have read about those new games, but they cannot even touch WoW or its fanbase. I know of atleast 20 people on my server that said their goodbyes and went to AoC. 2 weeks later they were raiding BT again. When people invest into an MMO and have spent 3+ years playing it, its hard to get them away from it. The only thing that can take customers from Blizzard is itself.......and thats Diablo 3.
Yes it sucks that the recruit-a-friend isnt retroactive, being a WoW player since the Dire Maul patch (lol) I would like to be rewarded for being a long standing customer but you have to realize what Blizzard is, a corporation that wants to make money! They will do anything to get more money in their pocket, anything.
