Mietha, you obviously haven't even touched this game and have no clue what you're talking about.
This is the most clever platformer ever. It's like portal for fps games.
What "original platformers" are even talking about? Name one.
Seriously, Joystiq is the jokiest of jokes when it comes to taste. And this thread proves it.
15 dollars for a fantastic game!? NO WAY. I only pay 10 dollars for fantastic games.

The game takes 2-3 hours to beat if you don't get stuck with puzzles. Guess what...you're gonna get stuck. It's gonna bring the game to about 6 - 10 hours for most here. Most mario games can be beaten in about an hour or two also...but you're not gonna do it. And you're missing the point. QUANTITY OVER QUALITY = NO!

@ mietha CAG Nope now its a 3d shooter or adventure game that you can beat in an afternoon. Sure some have replay value and some don't. But I can tell you this I logged more hrs on Super mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog than I ever did on games like Heavenly Sword. Don't get me wrong its a beautiful game but any more replay ability means online play for too many games but maybe it me that has changed. But you can't deny people have been bitching about games getting shorter.

But as far as older games being cheaper well they are cheaper cause they are old and they have made their money off them and its cheap to port at little risk but to make a whole new game that is a challenge. I just don't think they have hit the unreasonable price threshold yet. Live is still cheaper than many PC download able indy games.

I have to say I don't like the way he tries to make it sound like the game would have cost us $10 if it was up to him but then goes on to say he didn't even try to ask MS to put it out there for that price. He should have just owned up to the fact that he decided $15 was the way to go.

Yeah, this genius with absolutely no leverage/pedigree or fame is obviously in good position to push back at a monopolizing empire...

Think before you speak please.

Buy this game, people. You'll get more enjoyment, charm, creativity and ingenuity in 5 hours with this game than you do with 8-12 hours with a mediocre standard 60 dollar game. Great games like this don't come around often...and that's because bad taste saturates our market. Be a good guy and start the rotation towards a better direction.

Jeff Minter didn't recoup enough money because his game was a piece of shit. I bought it, but I wish I hadn't. Tempest 2000 it is not. If he's comparing his game to that piece of trash, that's not a good sign. I bascially don't buy XBLA games anymore, or very few, very rarely. The pricing has just gotten totally insane, and this is coming from someone who owns more that 50 of them.

It doesn't seem to me that he's comparing his game to SG, just his indie-developer status to Jeff Minter.

I'd be willing to bet that he thought $15 was ok because when it drops in sales he and MS can drop the price to $10 after the early adopters pick it up....with SpaceGiraffe being already at $5 how can it really get any less and still be profitable? am tempted to buy it but if nothing else will definitely try out the demo and maybe wait to see if my prediction comes true (about price drop to $10)...

You're right. Although that wasn't directed just at you, it was a bit presumptuous and they (grape nuts) are rather good with Honey... it really tends to cover up the uric aftertaste, just fyi ;)

Considering the glowing reviews (but the low replay value), I'd almost certainly buy it if it were priced at $10. But I just can't justify spending $15 on it. I really wish MS wouldn't push so hard to make XBLA games overpriced.

Also, why do people think they should pay more because one person made it instead of a team? Sorry, but I pay for the game, not the sob story behind it.

No disc
5 hours of gameplay, tops
No possibility of selling/loaning

When I can get a physical copy of a game like Mass Effect or Gears or whatever for $20 then $15 for this is insane.

I'm sad that I can't get over the $15 price and buy this game. It sounds like it's quite good, but MS just prices these games $5 too much every time.

I just completed this and it has one of the best endings i've ever seen in a game. This is the best value XBLA title since SotN on the story and atmosphere alone.

What I want to know is why some people put the $ sign AFTER the price number. Why 15$ instead of $15? Is it because $ = "dollars" and 15 = "fifteen," and you say "fifteen dollars" in real life? This is truly the real question that should be answered in this whole debacle.

I gave the demo a shot but there wasn't enough meat to it for me to tell if I would like the full game or not. If it was 800 points I might have been willing to go ahead and grab it but at 1200 I think I will pass since there are some really great looking titles due out next week and the week after.

...Is $15 really that much money these days, anyway?

I think it's well worth it. Lasted longer than portal, and was a lot more fun.
