Mario and more re-created in Soul Calibur IV

The creativity and ingenuity of gamers is not to be questioned. Case in point: the avalanche of (mostly) excellent classic characters re-created in Soul Calibur IV. We've already covered a few 24 of them, but this latest batch warrants a look as well. After all, it will at least give you a kicking-off point for making your own versions of Mario and Lugi, along with Cammy (Street Fighter), The Bride (Kill Bill), Gundam (er, Gundam), and more. While you're at it, we're sure our podcast crew would love to see themselves in SCIV form. (hint-hint)

I didn't like the Mario Bros. too much, but the FFIV Golbez, Cecil, and Rydia were awesome. I would have made Cecil a little girlier, however.

I made my self a Dart Feld and a Meru, plus Hollow Ichigo, I've seen Dr. Doom and others, I've spent too much time in that damn char creator...

Decent but mine are better...and they don't use a friggin' ring either.
Matter of fact I maxed the list of characters from other games. If ya got the patience and creativity you can seriously make close to sometimes perfect adaptations of other characters from other games (and movies :D!)
A ring though??! Man I bet they look gay when they fight...have you *seen* a male character with those things?! I don't care how hardcore the setup looks...you give em a ring...and they instantly turn gay.
Now that I think about it, I haven't thought of a character to use Tira's weapon to port in SCIV...suggestions are welcome.
Wait, didn't the editor say they wanted a podcast character?..heh..I got the perfect weapon then........

So, all fanboyism aside, I can't decide what system to purchase this for. Any suggestions? I would usually purchase it for 360 because of the achievements, but the PS3's controller seems so well-suited for fighters...help a brother out, people...

I don't think either controller does any favors for fighting games. Honestly pick off who you have on your friends list online. Or if you like Vader/Yoda better.

I have played both. I initially picked up the PS3 version for Vader and the better controller. However I was not happy to learn that the ps3 version DOESN'T HAVE VOICE CHAT DURING ONLY MATCHES. You can only talk in the lobby. Now, before all the people come out of the woodwork with their "well you should be concentrating during the match, not talking" nonsense, I'm not a hardcore SC guy so I'm just looking to play with some friends and have fun, and I damn well want to be able to talk to them while they do it.
Vader is cool in single player when you're just messing around, and the force choke is soooooo much fun to use ("suuuuffffeeeeeerrrr"), but beyond that Vader is actually a really weak (waaaaay too slow) character, so you can't really use him online unless you want to get slaughtered.
I've found it to be much more suitable with the 360 controller than I thought it would be. It's not like this is Mortal Kombat so you're not pressing combos like "back, back, forward, forward, A". Usually, you're just pressing in one direction so the 360 controller works fine for it, even if you use the analog stick. The problem with the 360 controller for fighting games is that it takes both the analog stick and the d-pad too long to re-center after pressing it in a direction, so if you have to press some combo of 3 directional clicks (like back, forward, forward) it takes too long given the small window you have to do it in a fighting game without your opponent mauling you. Given that there are few if any direction-press combos like that in the game, it works alright.
On the flipside, Yoda is a cheap-ass character and is very annoying to play against online.
Basically, if you're not going to be playing online and don't care about achievements, get the PS3 version for the better controller and much cooler Vader. If you're going to play online, get the 360 version where you can actually talk and where Vader is useless anyway.

Why do I keep seeing stories about created fighters in SCIV? Why is this news? You never made a big fuss about people doing this in the WWE wrestling games, and the CAW scene is rather large.
Seriously-- People have been making Mario in WWE Smackdown games since the PS1 days. People have been doing the entire cast of Final Fantasy in Smackdown vs. Raw since it debuted.
So why is Soul Calibur getting all this attention when you never bothered to look at the WWE CAW scene?
