The fine fellas over at PS3 Fanboy are becoming just a little obsessed over Trophies. We're not judging, but one of them asked the other day if Willy Wonka's shrinking ray could be used to miniaturize real-life trophies to the point where they could just push them into the code? We didn't have a clue how to answer that. Thankfully, they've discovered a healthy outlet for their Trophy vice with the PS3 Fanboy Trophy Portal®.
The PS3 Fanboy Trophy Portal will update with the latest information on games supporting Sony's achievement system. It will list the Trophies available in each game and should be kept up to date. Feel free to ask for a refund on your site subscription if they don't keep the list current.

I am starting to like the Trophy system better than the achievement system on the 360. With the level system, bronze to platinum...Seems like a more incentive way to do things.
54% Trophies so far on Drakes Fortune. And...Drakes Fortune turned out to be a good game. That is always a plus.

It seems the same to me.
A cross platform developer will make a set of achievements. On the PS3 they will make the harder goals gold or platinum, and on 360 they'll be worth more points out of 1000.
Also: Drake's Fortune is a really good game.

I was really sad to learn that you had to start a completely different save file to get the Uncharted trophies...I knew they wouldn't be completely retroactive, but I had assumed the Trophies one picked up later could still be collected. Shows what happens when one assumes.
And yeah, the Achievement/Trophy systems seem the same to me, so far as basic principles go. For the harder achievements, a higher point value. For the harder Trophies, a different level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)

Essentially they are the same. But I think it just shows more of way of someone accomplishing something. As getting a platinum trophy might show a difference between the games you played compared to your friends. Or having more gold trophies than someone else. Rather than having unnamed points with the Xbox.
'Achievements' are either still a Novelty or Competition...I like to see them as visible hard earned accomplishments that I have just got my into with my PS3. Because I know getting that dam Steel Fist trophy was a bitch....

When will we get a X360 Fanboy Achievement Portal?
Oh, wait.. Achievements were there all along and so don't need updates to add them in.

As a new PS3 owner, I cannot say I dig the Trophy system. It just seems like a boring version of the 360's Achievements.

Curious - what makes Trophies boring and Achievements not boring?

For me, there's just something less aesthetically pleasing with Trophies (which is odd because they're shiner and more lick-able). I'm sure I'll welcome them in time, like an unwanted boyfriend you have to accept because your daughter married him after he saved her life.
