Readers pick best webcomic: Impressions of Nintendo's E3 conference
Let's be honest: Shigeru Miyamoto would never post on Joystiq, and if he would, we'd like to think our response would be something wittier than ":(". So while we object to The Slackerz' totally false characterization of us, we are required by Blogger Law to award it webcomic of the week.
A very close second (as of this writing) goes to Dueling Analogs, with Digital Unrest in third. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Chase @ Aug 6th 2008 7:41AM
4MyFriends whining in three, two,...
Foetoid @ Aug 6th 2008 7:49AM
Honestly, i'm a bigger Nintendo fanboy than 4MyFriends and Fernando, but i'm generally more of a logical, rational fanboy, not a blind one.
John Z @ Aug 6th 2008 8:05AM
:(
IslandLife @ Aug 6th 2008 8:40AM
@foetoid
You ain't a FANBOY,
You're just a fan,....BOYYYY!
Duke @ Aug 6th 2008 10:22AM
Good for you Foetoid.
4MyFriends is the most annoying fanboy around lately and you should always be mindful to not sound like him.
t_m @ Aug 6th 2008 8:40AM
Heh.. only funny CTRL-ALT-DEL for about 2 years, and it still didn't get into the top 3. I almost feel sorry for it.
Its the nintendo fanboys who were annoyed by the nintendo press conference more than anyone..
Nushio (NDF - Blue) @ Aug 6th 2008 10:06AM
That's exactly right.
:-(
samfish @ Aug 6th 2008 11:44AM
Personally, I'm more annoyed by the Nintendo haters yammering on about how right they were more than anything.
...although in certain cases, the people bitching about the Nintendo haters is even more annoying
*cough*

The whole problem with it was that some people felt that the keynote is the be-all and end-all of everything Nintendo is doing between now and July 2009, which simply isn't true
While it does foretell a rather bleak Q4 2008 (though i'll be satisfied with Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Chronicles), it doesn't spell doom for Nintendo's own work on their own consoles

No, I think more people were annoyed an NOA's complete dropping on the ball. Let's put it this way. Were you aware Warioland Shake It ships this month? I sure as hell wasn't. This is a game the core gamer could get behind and truly enjoy. This is also a title in the very short term. Show off the game, you'll have it in a month. Were you aware Rhythm Tengoku was coming stateside? The rhythm game by the same team who made Warioware. One of the most heavily imported GBA and now NDS titles when they came out? A title sooo popular, it's the only GBA game in history to get an Arcade Cabinet release. Yeah, this is coming stateside as well. It's being called Rhythmn Heaven.
Where were these two core titles during the press conference? Where were they? Where were they on the showroom floor? According to many, these two titles were only shown in their private lounge area, invite only. One person on a podcast complained that he had to play WiiMusic before they would allow him to play Warioware.
Nintendo of Japan is still making games for both sets of gamers. They are actively advertising and focusing on both sets of gamers. They are acknowledging both sets of gamers as foundations to their business plans. Nintendo of America? Despite having both titles mentioned above ready in the very short term, coming out sooner than Wii Resort (Which is, LITERALLY, a day at the beach.... wait... wasn't that term invented as a metaphor? DOES REGGIE EVEN READ HIS FUCKING SPEECHES BEFORE DELIVERING THEM?!?), Cammy during an interview says, and I quote "Keep playing Mario Kart. Keep playing Smash Brothers."
REALLY?!?
It isn't Nintendo of Japan fucking up. It's Nintendo of America. Nintendo of Japan is doing a great job keeping everyone happy. Sometimes I believe Nintendo of America themselves don't even know about what games they're bringing over from NOJ.

While Nintendo charts really impressed me this year as always, Sony's sackboy chart wins originality and entertainment award.
j.howlett @ Aug 6th 2008 10:26AM
i really liked DA this time.
Eothein @ Aug 6th 2008 10:37AM
Heh, the Dueling Analogs and Digital Unrest links go to strips that have nothing to do with E3.
j.howlett @ Aug 6th 2008 12:24PM
because the one that does is old.
Guybrush Threepwood @ Aug 6th 2008 10:38AM
That comic would be so much better if they made Reggie silent.
We know what the chart is saying. You don't need to explain it to us.
SKI @ Aug 6th 2008 10:48AM
How did this win? It wasn't funny at all, it just had a Joystiq reference.
samfish @ Aug 6th 2008 11:45AM
You just answered your own question!
Deeznuts420 @ Aug 6th 2008 11:03AM
i am enshrined in joystiq history.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Aug 6th 2008 1:44PM
They should do like Sony and turn their charts into (non-hardcore) games.
Sean @ Aug 6th 2008 2:12PM
How to murder a joke by over-explaining it. You win!
Ethan @ Aug 6th 2008 2:14PM
I bet if Shigeru posted that he would still get three stars.
TheOverlord#2 can has Animals Crossing? @ Aug 6th 2008 2:31PM
If Shigeru Miyamoto posted, the words would turn gold.
RhymesWithHappy @ Aug 6th 2008 3:12PM
I'm actually really shocked someone hasn't made a new username as Shigeru and responded to this already...
deeznuts420 @ Aug 6th 2008 4:09PM
That was quite bad.
Shigeru Miyamoto @ Aug 7th 2008 12:29AM
WHAT. OH FUCK YOU MAN.
I'LL BEAT YOUR ASS, INTERNET.
AND DELAY WII ZELDA FOREVER.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 6th 2008 9:34PM
Honestly it derserved to win.
Slackerz is pretty damn good.
