With those numbers it sounds like the PS3 actually speeds up Vista.

Yes, yes I did go there.

The 286 just doesn't perform like it used to with all this fancy new software, does it?

Middle of the night. No time for long winded response. Insert generic finger wagging aimed at vista haters. Golf clap for guy that got vista to run on PS3. Back to bed before I can't fall back asleep. Goodnight and good luck with OS flame war.

The big question is, how does the 360 handle Vista?

Hint: Green screen of death.

What is this Vista of which you speak? Is it like Highlander 2, which also doesn't exist?

Sidebar, why the heck isn't the used song Guns N' Roses' Patience? It sure beats what ever garbage themes the video.

And Vista is terrible. If I weren't afraid of the possible/probable glitches from reverting back to XP, I would have done it already.

What glitches would you get from reverting back to XP? There are none, you either want to go back or you don't. What I get from your comment is that you feel comfortable with Vista but you just HAVE to say it sucks.

Vista kicks ass provided you run it on a decent system. I'd never go back to XP, no matter how good it was. This just happens to be better.

A-buh? Considering I am oft-greeted with a BSOD nigh every restart, I think the odds of unwanted consequences are pretty high.

What I get from --your-- comment is that you need a few more glasses of scotch and a couple handfuls of prescription painkillers.

THANKS

I don't know what you guys are doing with your machines, but Vista probably isn't the culprit. By most professional reviewers observations, Vista is far more stable than XP, so if your machine is crashing, chances are it would crash with XP as well.

Vista is a great system, but it does have some caveats. UAC and system resources required would be the two biggest. Solution? Turn off UAC and upgrade your aging hardware. I have a two year old laptop (granted it was cutting edge two years ago) that runs Vista Ultimate 64 bit like a dream. XP crashed on me constantly even after multiple wipes and clean installs. Vista rarely causes me any problems and when it does, it's usually due to crappy driver support from 3rd parties.

I know it's cool to hate on Vista and it certainly isn't as stupid proof as OSX, but if you know your way around PC hardware and software, Vista shouldn't be causing you much headache. It pains me to use XP now...

completely different architecture, only running off one core, ps3 only has 256 MB and on top of that its running off an emulator, of course its gonna be slow as hell

If the PS3s so powerful, why the hell does it take 15 minutes to open notepad on it?

blame the emulator of course, but most of them do their jobs just fine. I can run XP, Vista fine from VM ware via linux.

The emulator doesn't help, but it's mostly the fact that the OS can't access...well, anything from the PS3 hardware-wise.

It's because of the hypervisor. Linux/the emulator can't access the GPU (and, if I remember correctly, most of the SPUs as well). You're basically trying run Vista via emulator on a 1.4ghz machine with 512MB of RAM and no graphics acceleration. It does not surprise me this runs like absolute ass. Like driving a fast sports car with a governor that keeps it below 15mph.

Man, all i can even say is, every one of you who has problems with Vista is running a piece of shit. I've run it for a year and have had less issues than I ever did with XP. Not one BSOD, not one freeze, and I leave my computer on 24/7. Take care of your system and it will take care of you is all I have to say.
