There's a part of us that wants to compare The Ant Commandos' Illuminated Drumsticks to one of those ridiculously absurd Wiimote attachments; however, there's something stopping us. It's just ... it's just ... these are drumsticks that glow when you hit them on the drum pad. Come on, that's awesome!
At $20 the price is a bit silly, but then again, so is the whole concept. We're sure that under the right chemical conditioning these things will add a whole new level of glee to drumming. There's a horrible video after the break to see how it works.
i fail to see how this is relevant to video games but still friggin sweet. i want to go down State Street hitting stuff with them. i would still be one of the more normal people there.
Those are actually pretty tight, I think I'd rather have them always illuminated rather than when hit, that would kind of break my concentration/rocking.
This is one of those things that proves to be simultaneously gimmicky AND awesome! $20 is a little much but I envy anyone who has these in their possession.
To much payola on silly peripherals ... Not to mention custom guitar skins, custom straps and purchasing extra tracks and before you know it you have spent $700 on extra junk ... crazy ... I went crazy with MGS 4 and bought the special edition, limited game guide & headset so I know about buying extra crap that you don't need ... in the end it is pretty stupid ... must resist MGS 4 watch
I will admit the sticks are pretty bad ass but are more of a novelty
The drummers in my school band are all d-bags and thought they would be cool be using drumsticks like these in our concert. While they were hitting them together to the beat during one song the battery covers broke and flew off stage into the audience. It was pretty fun to mock them afterwards. PS Three cheers for using the comments system to not comment on the topic at hand!
Haven't these types of drumsticks been around for a while? This doesn't seem like very relevant news to me unless these are specifically marketed towards Rock Band players (I don't see why they would be since Rock Band drumsticks are the same as normal drumsticks). If I recall, my cousin bought drumsticks that light up just like that in the Rockin' Roller Coaster gift shop at Disney World a couple years back.
TAC (The Ant Commandos) makes guitar peripherals for Guitar Hero games on the PS2, so presumably these are made specifically for Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour drums.
Ok, that makes sense I guess from a marketing stand point. I wasn't familiar with the company so I wasn't aware of what they did exactly. I probably could have looked it up, but, meh, I'm lazy.
Wow, I've never really thought about how stupid the RB drums sound when you play them, but then again I don't screw with them without the game (and sound) on.
As far as the sticks go, meh, if my original RB sticks break I may get these, but until such a time comes I'll live without 'em.
If you break your current sticks, why not buy some actual wooden sticks? If you break wood sticks already, these plastic ones won't stand a chance, they'll just be more expensive to replace.
Well most wooden drumsticks (actual popular brand-named) are around $7-8 a pair.
Of course there are the Ahead brand of metallic and plastic sticks that run about $30-35.
If these were high quality (somewhere in between) for $20 I guess that wouldn't be too bad... but no way these lights will last...
And if anyone broke their RB sticks purely by playing on the standard RB set then I'm impressed. There is no way that would happen, you would break the set before the sticks... unless I'm severely underestimating the crappiness of the RB sticks. I haven't used mine yet.
