Here's the bad news: That access to the SOCOM beta you've been waiting for ... well, it won't start until September 8th (incidentally a full week after it kicks off for those who pre-ordered). The Resistance 2 beta: also September (and also after those pesky pre-order folks). So what we're trying to say here is this: your September is probably going to be pretty busy playing multiplayer PlayStation 3 shooters that aren't out yet. For more details on this month's episode of Qore, hit up that Source link or watch the trailer after the break.
Qore Episode 3 detailed; Resistance 2 beta access in Sept.

If you're already an annual subscriber to the PlayStation Network's Qore "magazine" then you're undoubtedly already content with your purchase, having scored Calling All Cars, a beta invite to SOCOM: Confrontation (beta forthcoming), some interstitial advertising and, of course, two issues of interactive-y content. If you've been waiting to drop your virtual bucks on an annual subscription, today's installment should probably be on your radar because, as you undoubtedly remember, that subscription grants one access to the Resistance 2 beta program in September.

Doesn't the term 'beta' imply that there would enough time between beta and release for bugs to be fixed? These aren't betas - they're demoes. SOCOM will go gold before the 'beta' even ends and Resistance will be too far along to make any changes.

MP betas are ususally not meant for bug testing, most of that is done internally. Stress testing the servers is something that can only be properly done with thousands of people.

I don't know. Halo 3 had 3.5 months between the end of the beta and the release of the game. That was a true beta. These new betas are all about charging people for demos, but not wanting to use the word demo.

PSN is ass. It has so much potential to be something great, but it seems like it's being handled by a bunch of morons.

Just so you know.I subscribe to the magazine that was originally PSM and is now called Playstation, the official magazine. Which is published by FUTURE inc. Every month since qore started there has been a code in the back of my mag for a free "ISSUE" of the previous months Qore. .Mind you there are no frils. No free calling all cars. No beta test invites. But if all you want is qore subscribe and you'l get a great magazine and qore for free. well worth the 12 bucks I spent

It's $3, get over yourselves. It would take two years of Qore just to add up to being able to play multiplayer on Live, so stfu. Neither is required.

As can be seen in the comments section of the PlayStation Blog, this is apparently only going to happen for EU customers...

I bought Qore and am fairly happy with it. For only 25 bucks a year I get demos, betas, free themes, and awesome behind the scenes features. Not alone exclusive trailers and the such, all while a great looking gal shows you around.

799$ for a Ps3,they can kiss my ass(400$ or 600$ I just ask you that Sony).

From the head honchos on the ps blog
While there is an R2 beta planned for Europe, you won’t be able to get into it through North America’s Qore. More details will be announced as we get closer to the launch of the beta.
*You must purchase a subscription to Qore–not just episode 3–to gain premier access to the Resistance 2 public beta.
*As we’ve stated in the past, there will be MULTIPLE ways of getting into the Resistance 2 public beta. The subscription to Qore is just ONE way. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for more details.

Can you still get calling all cars if you sign up at this point? Or was that a limited special?

That's specious reasoning. It's neither right that you have to pay $50 for multiplayer nor $25 for demos. The fact that they're charging you LESS for something that should be free changes nothing.

Why should people pay for an informercial? Qore is direct marketing.

It's a digital magazine created by the people at future publishing. It has ads just like print magazines. It's just an entertainment product sold on the PSN, nothing more.
Is it an infomercial because all the features and ads have to do with the playstation game machines? Were they supposed to feature 360 and wii games too?

Well, nothing really beats the Halo 3 beta with Crackdown scheme. Its really funny how there are so many console exclusive RPGs on the 360 and so many exclusive shooters on the PS3 - I can count four big ones in the next 6-9 months. The only difference is, I guess, that the shooters on PS3 do well, while nobody buys RPGs on the 360

Yes, I'm sure the whole "it's a digital magazine!" is how they want to spin it. Nintendo Power happens to be a real magazine, also published by Future. They're still both thinly veiled marketing. Do you really expect anything negative to be said about a Playstation product in Qore?
If they wanted to sell this "product" to the ultra hardcore Playstation faithful, I don't think anyone would mind. But the sleazy attempt to add value by putting a pricetag on things that others get for free? That will forever lend Qore a particular stench. It happened with Games for Windows Live, and now it's happening here.
And all for what, so less people will try their games and decide to buy them? I hope that $25 a year is worth it.

What you forget is that Qore tracks its news sources just like every gaming magazine EGM, Gamepro, GameInformer...etc. Qore has its exclusive information contents, not just a copy and paste from the web, and demos and betas are just ways to promote the magazine to audience. Just like some magazines. Besides, the demos come later free on PSN.
Now tell me EGM, PC World should be free too.
