Right, so there's good news and bad news about the SOCOM: Confrontation beta details released today. It's still pretty early in the morning, let's go good news first. The good news is that, if you pre-order the game at GameStop, not only will you get an invite to the beta of the game that kicks off Sept. 1, you'll also receive codes that you can give to two friends so you can all play together until it wraps up on Sept. 30.
The bad news? Those who'll get entry by having purchased the June issue of Qore won't be able to join in the fun until Sept. 8, which is sure to be a bitter pill if you bought the digi-mag just for the beta invite rather than the peerlessly charming Veronica Belmont.

That's pretty cool what they're doing with the code to give to friends thing.

Does sept 1st mean; 12:01 am that day or some other random time?

My soul is lost. I can't stand her. I was so happy when she left Buzztown.

This is good news, that means only one of us (me or my brother) has to reserve the game, and since I plan to buy it, as those he, it fits perfect.
It sucks for people who supported you Sony, with that *failing* online service, if you wanna charge for online, you should have at the beginning. GO SOCOM!

What? Paying for Sony's overly-priced digital merchandise?

Its as much a scam as live is then.....qore is optional and its just an online magazine......its not like u have to pay for it in order to do anything else, it may get u soem early demos or betas, but at least they don't make u buy a game to get into the beta.

Overly priced digital merchandise? $2.99 is expensive? Man I wonder if you even have Xbox Live then, that must be unobtainable by you.

Some people can't get over the fact that Crackdown was actually worth playing. I had a TON of fun with that game, whether or not it had a beta arbitrarily tacked onto it.
And how is Live a scam? I paid to play online on a kick ass service that has consistently exceeded my expectations. How is that a scam? PSN and Wii are free and have been consistently below expectation. Go fig.

Yeah, I won't be purchasing any more episodes of Qore. I'm very glad I didn't purchase the year-long subscription now.

I, at one time, was addicted to Socom: Combined Assault/Socom 3. They are a great series of games. This was the one game they got me really debating whether to get a 360 or PS3. I ended up getting a 360 and am wishing this game would port over to it. I guess I'll have to stick with Call Of Duty 4 until that happens. Also, if anyone knows what game would be closest to Confrontation game play wise please let me know.

You might be waiting a really long time. All of the Socom games have been published by Sony and their ties are very strong.

There's no way SOCOM will be ported, it's a first party game.

Yah, Zipper was bought not long ago, and even before that, SOCOM franchise was a SCE IP

I realize that it's a first party game and the chance of it being ported is slim to none, but it never hurt anybody to hope for somthing

Don't know if want, I have been playing B:BB lately, sweet but the Patches and Trophies are insanely hard to obtain ,it makes me wanna go back to Gears and try to get the rest of the online achievements.
With this I mean that I don't know if I want another Brown/Grey shooter B:BB is hard as it is.I'm buying Socom 4 but I have to think about Socom:c

At this point, can the June episode of Qore be purchased with the ability to join the beta? Not really interested in giving Gamestop the business for an extra week of SOCOM.
