BioWare considering Mass Effect DS
... and Jade Empire DS and Dragon Age DS and pretty much any BioWare property is on the table, according to the company. Lead designer of upcoming DS title Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Miles Homes told Eurogamer.de that the company would consider small screen versions of their IPs, "basically anything that reinforces the franchises."As much as we'd like to get totally pumped by the revelation, we're going to withhold pumpitude until we see how Sonic turns out. But hey, don't let us rain on your parade: Which BioWare franchise do you hope goes DS first?

I'd like to see a collection of mini games based loosely on the Star Wars universe.

Yeah, that sounds promising. Spin offs and throw away games are usually SO good!

How about a PSP version. Better yet how about KOTOR PSP.
FSK405K @ Aug 8th 2008 12:22PM
How about KOTOR MMO DS?
that guy @ Aug 8th 2008 11:33AM
Halo!!
Kel @ Aug 8th 2008 11:34AM
Baldur's Gate DS of course ... ;)
Ken Shammy @ Aug 8th 2008 11:34AM
How about stop wasting your time on DS ports and actually work on something awesome-- say, KOTOR3?!
I'm a bitter, bitter KOTOR fan.
Tiptup300 @ Aug 8th 2008 12:48PM
Seriously, mobile game systems are a total waste of time and money.
DS, PSP, Cell Phone Games = balls.

A 2d KOTOR RPG.
I would be inclined to say something 3d, a-la the FF remakes, but the Star Wars universe doesn't hold up well (visually) on the DS's hardware, imho. I would much rather see some great 2d artwork come out Bioware.
Or - get this - a RTS (a-la Advance Wars).
LiqwidZero @ Aug 8th 2008 11:38AM
A Jade Empire DS would rock!
tmacairjordan87 @ Aug 8th 2008 11:46AM
Nothing good can come from this at all. Try and picture Mass Effect on a DS.
This reeks of EA. Keep Mass Effect to the real systems and quit whoring everything out EA.
Cellien @ Aug 8th 2008 2:13PM
No one complains when they do it with Japanese RPGs.
Misfit Toy @ Aug 8th 2008 3:28PM
I couldn't agree more...part of what makes Mass Effect so awesome is the cutting edge technology it runs on. There is NO WAY that the DS can even remotely bring this world to life in the same way.
I own a DS...but I won't be owning this game.
zaglis @ Aug 8th 2008 12:04PM
1 frame per second for teh win
BigD145 @ Aug 8th 2008 3:31PM
5 minute load screens FTW.
Sami @ Aug 8th 2008 12:06PM
I wouldn't mind playing Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 or Fallout 1 or 2 on the DS. Can't be bothered to play them on the PC.
FSK405K @ Aug 8th 2008 12:23PM
Totally. With all the success Squenix has had with re-releases, ....brace for impact...why can't other RPG developers do it, too?
Highlar @ Aug 8th 2008 12:14PM
The thing which really gets me about companies doing something like this is...why say DS but not Wii? If you are going to send something over the Nintendo way that was previously elsewhere, why limit it to just the DS? You only want a corner of the portable market? Why not the PSP as well? The use base not big enough on the PSP/Wii to take advantage of for big name franchises like those?
Psaakyrn @ Aug 8th 2008 1:39PM
Because the DS has a higher market audience than the Wii.
Jonathan @ Aug 8th 2008 12:31PM
If they are thinking of bringing Mass Effect to DS why not the PS3 also? I think it would sell well considering the lack of good RPG's currently available (especially if they could price it at $40!). Doubt it will ever happen but a guy can dream!
Danny F. @ Aug 8th 2008 12:32PM
I can't see those games coming out on the DS anytime soon, you'd have to really downgrade the game to pull it off.
PSP has a better chance making those dreams a reality with the storage space and the power of the system..
thegadgetguru @ Aug 8th 2008 2:20PM
How are they going to make anything but gimped watered down versions of these games? As great as the DS is, it is nothing more than a portable SNES/n64.
clerkenwell @ Aug 8th 2008 1:43PM
I'd actually like to see Baldur's Gate ported to the DS. If you zoomed the camera in just a tad, the touch screen functionality is already perfectly suited for the mouse-driven gameplay of those games. Of course, Baldur's Gate I and II, along with their respective expansions packs should be on the cartridge, making for the most epic package one could possibly imagine.
Ed @ Aug 8th 2008 1:59PM
How bout they focus on not making Mass Effect 2 not suck?
Duke @ Aug 8th 2008 2:14PM
Nothing would be more exciting than playing and getting in the craft's elevator for a ride, while you stand in a real elevator with your DS.
Orayn @ Aug 8th 2008 5:14PM
Somehow, the thought of a low-poly Shepard is fascinating. I love seeing high end games make the transition to N64-era graphics. Makes 'em show their true colors, because they can't really hide behind shiny graphics any more.
David @ Aug 8th 2008 3:50PM
You know what would also reinforce the franchise? More DLC.
GET TO IT BIOWARE.
RagnarokAngel @ Aug 8th 2008 8:37PM
question. Why is everyone's first assumption that the game would be mass effect 1 in DS form? Seriously they know that's impossible. It'd be a side story most likely, like the Kingdom Hearts GBA game or something.
Gatcho @ Aug 8th 2008 11:37PM
it's actually Your Comment = Balls
