I can play this easily. People who are complaining about their computers being too crappy to run it... UPGRADE! It's an obvious answer so quit complaining. I build a high spec pc so I expect high spec games.

This definitely illustrates the stigma surrounding PC gaming. It doesn't matter what the specs are, it could run on a 286SX with 32MB RAM and people would still claim they had to purchase a $5000 PC and sacrifice their firstborn to the blood god Khorne to run it.

Those system requirements aren't that bad at all. Most modern games out now float around those requirements. Meaning any bullshit about needing to upgrade your computer constantly is well...bullshit.

As others have already said, these minimum and recommended requirements are not that bad. The minimum and recommended requirements for Crysis are actually very similar:

These requirements aren't that bad. The minimum requirements are basically a 3-4 year old PC.

I built a PC with better than their recommended specs for $850, including a Vista Home Premium license. It played Crysis on High Quality at 1440x900 and should handle FarCry 2 at least as well.

will tweak it to fuck to get a good experience.

these people spend allot of time making a (supposedly) good experience, least we can do is give it our best.

Minimum requirements are bullshit, that only means the game will run without your pc exploding, but at 20fps at lowest settings...

Even meeting the recommended specs only gets you medium settings....

My PC surpasses the recommended specs so it's not THAT harsh.

To all the arguments about console vs PC I say: When you first heard about HD, PC gamers went "huh? we've been doing that for ages"

So even if now you can build a decent PC to run it at a moderate cost, think next year. Your console will the weight dragging the developers down.
2 years ago PS3/Xbox360 hardware was not there for PC, but PC hardware moves really fast.

Don't see what the big deal is with those rec specs. I upgraded my old PC system to those two years ago and it wasn't that expensive then. RAM is dirt cheap (especially for older boards) and if you are running on less than a 1GB for any reason you have only yourself to blame. Especially if you use it for gaming.

I was expecting 2.8GHz Core 2s, Nvidia 9800GTXs and 4GB RAM for the recommended.

Hell, my Macbook has 4GB of RAM and I just use it for interwebbing and email.

Ok, well if you could forward me the cash to replace my laptop with a new one capable of running FC2 then that'd be appreciated... should only be around 900quid, so thats about $1800.

I'd buy one myself, but you know, I have to pay rent, buy food, buy furniture, pay for travel to work, pay for kids food and clothes, etc...
Once I finish saving to buy a decent 21" tv then maybe i'll start saving for a new laptop.

you are all whack, use that website look for deals.
i built:
Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP, 512MB 8800GT, Core2Quad, 2GB Memory for $800 and i got a 750W power supply and nice case. DVD+-RW.

again $800 after rebates and coupons and savings.

Computers can be cheap to build if you look for deals. I run Oblivion, Orange Box, Devil May Cry 4, Bioshock and a shit load of other games at aound 60fps when set to Highest settings on a 19" monitor at 1440x900 resolution.

if i can do it for $800
( i already had the monitor and it costed me $66 AR) and Coupon)

So people PC gamers and etc... you will not weep.
You can play the game...

umm, yea i just listed about 4 games other than fc2 you can play..
then you can play crysis ( the new one), and other games that are out and coming soon:
UT3, Diablo 3, Star Craft II, Force Unleashed, Call of Duty, Warcraft, Age of Empires

Do you want a list?

$800 is a solid investment, my first gaming computer was 950 and i gamed on it for 7yrs. i played through Quakes and Unreals like no other. I upgraded my computer like once and that costed me less than $200 to do, i got a 5x series card and an athlon x2.

Plus i kill two birds with one stone by having a computer i can use it practically as well as for games.

I'm also pretty sure i can get basically every single player game for free, which is a big turn on for paying $800 for premium graphics, long lasting, and all round entertainment. my alternative is a ps3 or a xbox360, which do little power compared to my PC and each game would cost me about 60 bucks, or if i wait 40 bucks. Not to mention if i had a 360 it'd be with microsoft like 50% of the time after i bought it. Also the PS3 would not have many games i would like to play. UT3 on ps3 failed miserably but is still glorious on the PC. CoD4 lags on PS3 and loses alot of frames, as well as on Xbox360, but it has never done so on PC. i can garuntee BioShock will lag on PS3 when Big Daddy makes his appearance the 2nd time.

I don't like writing alot or defending my ideas on the internet, but i just had to in this case... PC gaming is where its at. I own a PS3 as well. I enjoy my PC on a different level. Oblivion sucked balls n PS3, but was much more astounding on PC. However PS3 has Soul Calibur 4 and PC does not and therefore i glorify PS3 (and 360) in that area.

All in all the best investment of my life were my Gaming PCs always lasting me a loong time. I suspect my latest one to last me at least 5 years. IF anythign after 3 years i'll update my Gfx.

BTW the PC i built can now be built for waaay less than 800, possibly 600.

Again i point you to www.slickdeals.net they are very friendly and if you want to build a pc i would suggest you look in the threads of Hot Deals. People are really great there.

Abscicca, there's more than one game on the PC, genius. That gaming PC will last you a few years. The -Cry- games have always been a benchmark for making your computer for the next generation; honestly Crytek's games have never been really good, but they've always looked beautiful and have provided a benchmark for what graphics will look like for the next couple years. You really only have to buy one gaming PC every 2-4 years (depending on how up-to-date you like to be); I bought my PC in 2006 (and it was old hardware when I got it), and it's lately starting to get slow. Console generations tend to last about 5 years as well. Although most of the time, you don't even have to buy a new computer; you usually just have to replace individual parts. I really wouldn't even say buying a new computer is necessary until a new platform comes out, like switching from DDR to DDR2 or switching to a new CPU socket, etc. So you might spend a few hundred a year on parts, but it's really not bad for anyone who has their own full-time job and isn't 16 (even if you are 16, get a part-time job.. you have no bills, so it really shouldn't be a problem affording this).

"umm, yea i just listed about 4 games other than fc2 you can play..Do you want a list?"

Are you really that obtuse? Here:

"Right, like I'm going to pay $800 just to play a game."
-->
"Right, like I'm going to pay $800 just to play some games."

Point still stands.

"Plus i kill two birds with one stone by having a computer i can use it practically as well as for games."

I constantly hear people squawking that crap line. I already have a computer that does everything I need it to do perfectly fine. So where's that second bird now? I'd be paying hundreds of dollars just to play a few games (Not to mention there's already a lot of games I can already play on this thing).

"I'm also pretty sure i can get basically every single player game for free"

Ahh, I see. Piracy. That really helps prove your point...

"BTW the PC i built can now be built for waaay less than 800, possibly 600."

OOoooohhh, I see! $600 for a gaming rig is TOTALLY not like the 3DO at all.

"Abscicca, there's more than one game on the PC, genius."

I'm well aware of that, genius. You've entirely missed the point.

"So you might spend a few hundred a year on parts, but it's really not bad for anyone who has their own full-time job and isn't 16"

I see, so just because I *can* buy something means that I *should* buy it. My PC already does everything I need it to do perfectly fine, so it would be a few hundred per year on parts *just* to maintain a gaming platform. That's called "irresponsible".

the 3DO was not upgradeable..and 3DO was roughly 700 if i remember correctly.
Also PCs can be this cheap and be quite powerful:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3978475&Sku=P450-9120%20B

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4086974&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs

So with al piracy aside those two pcs are around teh same price as a Xbox 360 and a PS3.
I can essentially play any game on those two pcs i linked above, (i can get a 8600gt for the 2nd kit for 50 bucks.)

so yea....even though i got my ps3 brand new for 280 by being a cheap ass. most people bought theres for 300-500. Most computers are in that range. So i buy a PS3 5 years later PS4 is out and im gonna have to shill 500 bucks to buy it, or i built a PC and 5 years later i need to upgrade its gonna cost me $50 bucks. Theres a cycle in which the last generation gfx card becomes cheap as hell but still useful for 3-5yrs. And they usually get as cheap as well $50.

So: 300-500 bucks for a PC yr1, +50 at yr. 5 (350-550)
Or?: 300-500 bucks for Console, +300-500 for newer Console at yr5 (600-1000)

I'm not gonna argue anymore cause i feel like its getting pointless your gonna defend Consoles and im gonna defend PCs even though we both probably love using both.
I just want people to know PCs aren't as expensive as they think.

Hey guys, as a fellow pc user, I just have to say...

Can we have just one hardware related discussion without bragging about awesome our shit is? Holy shit guys, at least with the console gamers, they all have the same stuff so have no need to brag. I don't give a shit about how awesome your rig is unless you present it in a non-douchebag way.

I'm not going to think less of you if you don't have dual quad-cores or a triple sli setup, likewise i won't think higher of you if you can somehow buy all this shit. Calm down people, just because someone mentions hardware doesn't mean we want to hear about all of your shit.
