Congratulations to Bungie, it's well deserved. Overall Halo 3 is a fantastic game from the FOUR PLAYER CO-OP, the inclusion of in-game movie / picture saves, multi-player groups / games to the conclusion of this series story.

This would have been my choice too. 4 player co-op(something that other games just aren't doing) and a great story. I had SO much fun with this game in the single player and multi-player.
When I stack up all the things I like about my favorite games, Halo 3 comes out on top.

I agree Zebra Niner, whether you go back to play the single player or multiplayer, most likely you're going to have an equally entertaining experience. I have to say that, for me, the in game movie saves are HUGE. I wish Gears of War had this feature... hell, I wish ALL games had this feature!!
Again, when you stack up everything that Halo 3 does, and it does everything very well - great, I can definitely see why it's the winner, even if it isn't what I'd choose personally.

I don't understand how a game that won no awards prior to this nomination could win GOTY. Oh well, Halo appeals to more people so it makes sense I guess. It was a solid game.

Halo 3 has more players, check Major Nelson. Funny thing about opinions, they're opinions. This was voted by fans, as in the same people who play these games on Xbox Live, and Halo 3 beat it out. Even MGS4 beat CoD4, which means that the amount of players who believe CoD4 is better is less than the amount of people who feel Halo 3 is superior.

So if so many people are playing why does it take so long? Maybe it's not a case of more people playing Halo 3 but people moving on from CoD 4 to other games such as Battlefield: Bad Company.
I played Halo 3 for ages until I decided it was no where near as fun as Halo 2. Then I switched ot CoD 4 but now I'm bored of that and alternate bewteen Bad Company and Halo 2 (Team Snipers).

I bought the collector's edition of Bioshock. When I was playing it I wanted to find all of the tape recorders to hear the story and my wife enjoyed watching me play. After I beat it, I didn't even go back to see the "bad" ending.
When I bought Halo 3, my wife played WITH me. We played co-op for the entire game, and even went back and found all of the skulls and went for the level scoring achievements.
I'm not putting Bioshock down, I thought it was a great game, but I definitely didn't have the same experience I had with Halo 3.

Considering G4's lost a large portion of its PS3 owners viewership for all its Sony hate, it's really no surprise Halo 3 won (I for one didn't even know it was time for Gphoria again). Halo 3 is bad compared to the first game. I sold it a few weeks after buying it. It wasn't worth the pricetag, especially with the terrible ending. BioShock more than deserved the award due to the fact that it wasn't another sequel or rehash. The story was much more compelling and entertaining imho. At the very least, there should've been more original titles to choose from. Everything was so predictable that it was boring. The only standout this year was Mario Kart Wii for Best Racer. I don't think anyone saw that coming...
