Nintendo: Wii Music not competing against Rock Band, Guitar Hero

Nintendo's VP of Corporate Affairs, Denise Kaigler, says the company isn't competing against Guitar Hero and Rock Band with its toddler-friendly overly-casual Wii Music. She explains to GameDaily that the company is trying to make "enriching opportunities for consumers" and have them create something unique. Yes, tempo creation through waggle is certainly unique.

We'refrightened sure that Wii Music will find an audience somewhere, even if it is just the rugrats roaming the great plains of the playpen.

I like how Nintendo claims that they "aren't competing" with their competitors when they introduce a new product, and then either:
1. Brag about how they are beating their competitors, if their product takes off
2. Say "we said we weren't competing!!" if their product flops
Wishy-washy bastiches.

Sadly, after playing Wii Music at E3, the game isn't even competing against fun. The game is Virtual Boy 2.0.

"Wii Music not competing against Rock Band, Guitar Hero"
You're damn right it's not. It might put up some competition against that hand held toy where you try and flip a ball on a string into a cup...but even that seems more entertaining that Wii Music.

Hell, I'd buy Wii Cup-In-A-Ball before I buy Wii Music.

Unless the world suddenly stop having babies, Nintendo's target audience will replenish itself every 4 minutes.

Im with you people! Every game Nintendo developes should be catered towards me! How dare they try to sell something to small children... this is outrageous, they are worse than HITLER!

At E3, this was their flagship product. We all know that kids get a kick out of E3, and there aren't any actual gamers there.
But then, Nintendo apologized to the hardcore gamers, and all was forgiven as usual.

Meh. Wii Music will do to aspiring musicians what Mario Paint did to aspiring artists: Nothing!

Nintendo needs to understand that they DONT get to decide which of their games compete with other games.
That's on the consumer end of things...

Just like Nintendo complained that game prices drop too fast, thus interfering with their long-term profits.
Everyone knows the laws of supply and demand do not apply to Nintendo.

You know, as soon as the Wii Music sells more copies in one month than rock band or Guitar Hero does, they're going to be like, "And now Wii music is the better game!"
Just like they did with their console.
Wii sales < XB360, PS3 sales:
"We're not competing with them"
Wii Sales > XB360, PS3 Sales (or as we call it, E3):
"We're doing a WAY better job making games than those guys!"
