Wii Play only accounts for 6 million in the US, which this chart refers to. The blue line on that chart is at about 55 million. Thus, if we remove Wii Play, it's still head and shoulders above the rest.

There's no way to really know for sure unless NPD releases a chart, but if we generously assume that the US counts for HALF of a games sales, then going by the million seller list on Wikipedia, we would have to subtract...approximately 21 million (I rounded the numbers).
So
21 million
+ 6 million
27 MILLION.

So let's subtract 27 million from 55 million.
55 million
- 27 million
28 MILLION

That would mean that if you subtract all Nintendo first party titles and DO NOT SUBTRACT MICROSOFT AND SONY FIRST PARTY SALES,
You're looking at Nintendo selling only SLIGHTLY less software than Microsoft and still more than Sony.

Let's just stop this foolishness now ok? Below is a link to the next chart (which leaves out 1st party data) and even without 1st party games Wii tracks higher than 360 and demolishes PS3 badly.

Hey hey, we saw the chart... but what I am worried about is that the Wii is moving up erratically... The 360 on the other hand is on a steady pace while PS3 is just sucking.. I am not saying that is bad and all and that this should be a threat of bad tidings to nintendo(since anything they make now prints money), but Nintendo also needs to place some stablillity in their chart(Since some 3rd party games can be bad "Cough" Gingerbread "cough") But for now, Good job Nintendo :)

I don't really see much of a stability problem. I'd understand if sales went down every now and then, but they always go up. There's not a flat line anywhere.

I posted the link in the original thread on Joystiq, but they actually deleted my comment. Not the comment system acting funny, either. They straight up deleted it.
Jeez.

You've had comments deleted off Joystiq too? Welcome to the club. It only happens when I quote Destructoid or Kotaku, though.

The reason Nintendo software accounts for around half the total software sales is because Nintendo makes good software...Wii Play aside.

If you count Sonic as first-party (as Nintendo owns Sega) I have more first-party. If you count them as third-party (Sega's still Sega), then I have more third party.

If Nintendo owns Sega, why do they still release on other platforms?

Think about it this way, Sega is Nintendo's (explative) the reason why they place horrible games on the other systems is to raise money into the Nintendo section :) Nice thinking Sega... NOW GIVE ME MAI DREAMCAST 2! I want Chu Chu Rocket and Jet Set Radio "Cries"

so, yeah. take out nintendo's first party software and put the wii's third party sales against the other two's third AND first party sales?

yeah. that's fair.

Wii Fanboy shouldn't be following Joystiqs trolling ways. Wii Play is a GAME that buy at RETAIL. Irregardless that it comes with a controller, it is still a piece of SOFTWARE. Only Nintendo is held to these double standards of game sales not counting because they're bundled with something. PS360 game special editions or games bundled with Eye Toys and headsets count for every sale. Wii Fanboy, you guys should know better.
