See Call of Duty: World at War's co-op gameplay

Activision and Treyarch told us about their co-op multiplayer plans for Call of Duty: World at War following the game's unveiling back in June. Now they've put their promises into video form – although the roughly five minutes of footage is entirely focused on two-player action (the final game is pegged to support four-player teams through the entire campaign).

So far it looks to be ... pretty standard fare. Still, with the historically high intensity of COD's firefights, it will be a huge plus to have as many as three buddies backing you up in battle. Also, as nice as co-op is, we're extremely eager to see what Treyarch is working on to (hopefully) out-do COD4's stellar competitive mutliplayer modes.

The only thing we can count on from TreyArch multiplayer is crashing game servers and laggy gameplay. Sweet!

That looks so much like Call of Duty 3, it's not even funny. I'm going to have to pass on this game and wait for next year's real Call of Duty.

Well of course this game looks similar to CoD3 since, I don't know if you were aware of this, but both games are set in World War II.

I'm not stupid I know that, the point was that this game has the exact same gameplay style and mechanics as Call of Duty 3, and those are not fun at all. Infinity Ward was always meant to make Call of Duty and these guys are just trying to imitate it and are doing a poor job.

Looks good. Nothing I haven't seen before, however and it's hard for me to get excited for this one when I'm still playing cod4 almost daily.

My sentiments exactly. For me, you can just make a multiplayer cod. If it's better than cod4, consider it a buy. Cod4 is one of my favorite fps's ever, not because of the 4 hour campaign but because 6 months later, I'm still playing the multiplayer.
This footage is nice, don't get me wrong. Co-op is nice but it's just appetizers.

hmm , will it have local spilt-screen co-op , local co-op alone would make this a buy , I found COD3 to be a DECENT game I enjoyed the SINGLE player .

Hopefully COD5 will be better , I don't mind the WW2 setting

seems kiefer southerland got himself another voice acting job. Now all we need is the beeping from the clock in 24 and some type of time warp and we have ourselves season 6! or 7! or whatever season it's on.

Co-op makes this a definite buy for me.

Here is what we need to see in multi-player:
1. 36 players -its about time x-box did it right (COD2 had 36 or more, right?)
2. NO juggernaut or martyrdom perks
3. Maps that fit match types (headquarters on shipment, i'm talking to you)
4. Custom characters
5. I hate to say it, but Halo style match types. variety is the spice of life, you feel me?
6. 1 clip limit for snipers and/or the option to excude them from ranked matches.

4/6 and i'm sold on day one. I'd even be one of the D bags standing infront of Gamestop at midnight.

So this post doesn't get flamed by the camping fanboys (aka the boy scouts). I'd forgo #6 for maps large enough for them.

Sorry, but Treyarch's job is to make game appealing to everybody, not just a couple of individuals. If you thought snipers or perk were unfair on Call of Duty 4, then that's your problem. It is an extremely well balanced game and every class has it's strong points and it's weaknesses. It's your fault if you try to fight a sniper with a handgun from a long distance. It's all about strategy. ;)

The enemy AI looked awful. Guys in full camo lay an ambush then charge into the open one by one to get shot at close range. They behaved more like zombies than soldiers.
