The boys over at GayGamer.net put together a video scrapbook of
serious questions they asked members of the gaming press during E3. The series features folks from several of your favorite gaming blogs, sites and magazines. There's no embed code and we referenced a couple of these during the week, but here they all are in one neat, perfectly trimmed, little package with a link to each episode:
GG tells us they'll be doing another video scrapbook at PAX in a couple weeks and asking the same type of hard-hitting introspective questions of random attendees. We definitely had fun with this and hope to see them do it again.

Hyams @ Aug 9th 2008 7:25PM
I HATE JEWS!
... oh wait, wrong type of bigotry.
Obie @ Aug 9th 2008 7:31PM
This cannot end well. Seriously, grow up people.
BananaBoat @ Aug 9th 2008 7:41PM
If you are against anything on the internets, you are bigoted it seems.
DIE FURRIES!!! YIFF IN HELL!!!
/gets banned/
BananaBoat @ Aug 9th 2008 7:50PM
Not cool Hyams, not cool.
Hating on people that pork animals is perfectly ok, but you've crossed the line good sir.
@obie
Every time the site gets mentioned, it's always inevitable that someone is going to lose their sh*t and controversy will abound. It just happened a bit....soon....this time around.
Hyams @ Aug 9th 2008 8:09PM
... did anyone else just hear a 'whooshing' noise coming from above BananaBoat's head?
BananaBoat @ Aug 9th 2008 10:41PM
I don't call people "good sir" when I'm being serious.

There was no "How do you feel about Captain Rainbow" question?
(Was that BIGOTRY?)
Trickob @ Aug 9th 2008 8:28PM

fred @ Aug 9th 2008 9:19PM
I almost laughed, reconsidered, and then I just silently chuckled.
EihBeir @ Aug 9th 2008 7:13PM
Gay Gamers... Scrapbooking... That's kinda funny. :)
Cody Gray @ Aug 9th 2008 7:15PM
I love gaygamer.net!
I am gay and a gamer, so this site is perfect for me!
I hope no one makes fun.
Wouldn't be surprised though.
Seritonin @ Aug 9th 2008 7:38PM
No one will insult you, Cody Gay.
LOL C WHUT I DID THAR?!
Roto13 @ Aug 9th 2008 7:41PM
*high fives*
John McPoop (PSN:johnnynumber5) @ Aug 9th 2008 8:02PM
Honestly no one cares if you are gay. Whether you were born that way or whether you made that lifestyle choice no one really cares. Why would you even feel the need to announce that you are gay and then also say you hope that someone doesn't make fun of you for it? It's not like you have to tell the whole world you are gay to get everyones reaction. Everyone has to deal with bigotry in one way or another in their lifetime.
DangerMouse @ Aug 9th 2008 8:10PM
Thanks for sharing.
caserb @ Aug 10th 2008 10:08AM
I am also gay and I am also a gamer! But my name does not have "gay" in the title! I HOPE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT A CASERB IS.....
Mr.ESC @ Aug 9th 2008 10:17PM
Um it seems is GAY OVER.
J/K
Nassin @ Aug 10th 2008 11:25AM
@caserb
If I had to venture a guess...your a chaser and a bear? I didn't think that was possible.
RavenPaul @ Aug 10th 2008 3:25PM
Can't you just be a gamer, why does it have to be a gay gamer.
Saria the Cat @ Aug 10th 2008 4:54PM
I think the majority of gamers take being a straight male for granted. Some fundamental personal attributes (gender, sexuality) are highly relevant to game discussions because they affect how one views gaming and interacts with others that play them. Fat Princess is a good example of how someone's gender or weight can greatly affect how they view the game.
When people know I am a girl online, the way they interact with me radically changes, and I like that because I want to have a conversation as similar as possible to a real life one. I also want to be able to represent a minority in gaming.
*shrugs* I think it's relevant, though I know plenty of guys who would rather just live in ignorance of their male friend's homosexuality so maybe that's why people are getting their panties in a knot here.
Hyams @ Aug 9th 2008 7:21PM
Sleep with Marcus Fenix? You'd never be able to sit down again.
Ross Miller @ Aug 9th 2008 7:26PM
Why do people always assume he's well hung? I mean, he's pretty grouchy all the time, you think that might something to do with genetic deficiency? Could gun-toting and warmongering really be compensation?
Stink Snake @ Aug 9th 2008 7:45PM
"Why do people always assume he's well hung?"
I for one have never thought about the size of Marcus Fenix's penis. However, I guess when you bloggers get together the whole "Who would win in a fight Batman or Superman?" has gotten old.
So, now you ask, "Prodigus pecker... Marcus Fenix or Master Chief?"
Hyams @ Aug 9th 2008 8:12PM
Who said anything about size?
It's not how big his penis is, it's how he'd use it.
MV @ Aug 9th 2008 9:20PM
It's because Marcus Fenix has a little chainsaw at the tip of his penis.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 9th 2008 10:19PM
Gaygamer and Discussions about the genitalia of fictional characters.
Oh sorry I didn't want to click on this site I was looking for Joystiq not Kotaku.
dark_inchworm @ Aug 9th 2008 11:52PM
moar like marcus PENIS
Obie @ Aug 10th 2008 5:51PM
Funny thing that pretty much all women were game, gotta give em props for that.
Obie @ Aug 9th 2008 7:29PM
Who'd the hell want to get it on with Markus Phoenix?
His whole body looks like it's made of monster truck tires! And everyone knows a low gamerscore is the new cool. ;)
Tomoki @ Aug 9th 2008 7:30PM
Oh Alex, your response in the Marcus Fenix one was priceless.
cheese @ Aug 9th 2008 7:40PM
Seriously, why does joystiq feel the need to post articles related to GayGamer? It's exploitative, unnecessary, and quite frankly irrelevant.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Aug 9th 2008 7:46PM
How is it exploitive? I mean how is it any different if Joystiq posted news or anything else from gamepro, or some other gaming site?
Obie @ Aug 9th 2008 7:53PM
If you listened to the articles, they are very well balanced gaming editorials.
But you didn't did you?
Cuz even hearing gay guys might make you gay too, right?
Mr.ESC @ Aug 9th 2008 10:21PM
Obie in another point of view Gaygamer isn't something you want your parents or your GF caught you reading.
Obie @ Aug 9th 2008 10:47PM
They honestly don't care dude, we are almost a decade in the 21st century...people need to really get over this stuff.
BananaBoat @ Aug 9th 2008 11:24PM
It doesn't matter what century it is, homosexuality has had waxing and waning levels of acceptance depending on which culture you are talking about, for thousands of years. I'd say that while it's more accepted than it was here 50 years ago (here being the US as a whole) there are still gigantic swaths of people that don't share the liberal views that are popular on most of the internet.
Anyway, it's not exploitative, since Joystiq is more or less an aggregate of other sites content (and other sites pull stuff from Joystiq, it's a give and take sort of thing).
Personally I avoid sites with an agenda stated right in the URL like the plague. Girlgamer sites, Gaygamer sites, etc. Anything other than just "gamer" really annoys the hell out of me, and makes me wonder what the reaction to a "Straightgamer" or a "Guygamer" website would be (I'm guessing something along the lines of "THAT'S SEXIST!!!" and "THAT'S HOMOPHOBIC!!!")
how_much_I_carrot @ Aug 10th 2008 9:46AM
I believe "Straightgamer" and "Guygamer" are referred to as "Joystiq" and "Kotaku". That's very apparent to anyone who isn't a straight guy gamer but I can understand if you, a straight guy gamer, don't really notice that.
Saria the Cat @ Aug 10th 2008 5:03PM
@Obie: I am liking you more and more! :)
I live in Berkeley so it's not really that embarrassing or even out of the norm to be looking at any site related to gay stuff. Which is how it should be. I just wish the rest of the U.S. was more open and accepting. I have hope things will get better with time, but not on their own. We have to work towards it.
Saria the Cat @ Aug 10th 2008 5:06PM
@BananaBoat: I do have to agree with you about the girlgamer sites, though. I tend to avoid them just because I have the impression that most of them overdo it and focus more on being a girl than the actual gaming. It's an important perspective to bring to the table but I don't want it to get in the way of the actual game discussion. But I can understand other girls thinking of it as a haven to discuss things with fellow females. I just prefer the male crowd I guess.
Mr.ESC @ Aug 10th 2008 10:27PM
*serious face.
Um the other post was a joke. Don't take it seriously.
I like to avoid these discussions because is not something people should discuss in the internet, especially in the internet.
I have a establish position in the middle ground because people have lost the perspective that at the end we are talking about sexual preferences, is not a simple matter but ask yourself this, Do you care about the sexual preferences of your neighbor? Really? At the end personal details are stuff that people should keep to themselves.
Also I have read some features in gay gamer like androgynous videogame characters because I like comedy regardless of the site unless is plagued by Trojans. Reading gay gamer won’t make you gay, reading girlgamer won’t make you girly and reading Ask men won’t make you manly(Yet reading 4chan can make you retarded).
Trickob @ Aug 9th 2008 7:42PM
I just heard the term "manscape" for the first time and I also just learned what it means!! This is a very exiting moment for me. (not a typo)
Trickob @ Aug 9th 2008 7:43PM
kinda like video games!
Trickob @ Aug 9th 2008 7:50PM
That was supposed to be a clever response to Cheese's comment but the reply syst- I mean, I screwed up.
markhill66 @ Aug 9th 2008 8:31PM
When Ross said, "Marky Mark, I love you," I imagined he was talking to me. It was beautiful.
Ross Miller @ Aug 10th 2008 2:00PM
markhill66, I love you
markhill66 @ Aug 10th 2008 5:34PM
Ditto, Ross.
