Not too long ago Fileplanet announced that the Xbox 360 beta for Red Faction: Guerrilla was being offered exclusively to paid subscribers and we ignored it. Who wants to pay for a beta, anyway ... except for everyone who initially bought Crackdown, that is. Today we finally want to talk about the Red Faction: Guerrilla beta because it is now available for anyone who signs up for a free account and completes a short registration questionnaire on Fileplanet.
Download the 652MB beta today and let us know what you think!
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

I am with you, man. If you like Lost Planet, then you will probably like this game; 3rd person sci-fi with team based objectives. I personally hate it. The models and textures are ass-ugly, the controls are odd, particularly wep switching, and the "red on target" aim system on serves to highlight how clunky the controls are. The match making also leaves much to be desired.
Again, I didn't like Lost Planet, but I thought I'd check this out. I played for less than an hour on 3 maps and turned it off.

guys...it's a beta, these aren't the final graphics.
That said, this game doesn't have a whole lot going for it, atleast not in the multiplayer sense. It's a very generic, third person TPS with lame 5 year old destructible building technology that kinda comes into play (but not really). The weapons are boring, the characters are boring, even getting a high score is extraordinarily boring. Lost Planet is a MUCH better game than this, though the camera is pretty much the same.
If I had to compare this to something, I'd compare it to Mass Effect (JUST the combat). The weapons have almost zero excitement behind them, it's just like "Here is our rifle, here is our melee, you've seen this a thousand times before" and there is NOTHING to set this apart from the hundred or so other FPS (or TPS) games on the market right now.
I loved the original red faction, back when the destructible walls were jaw dropping, but now it's extremely played out. I didn't even know about this game before I heard about the beta, and I doubt I'll be hearing from it again after. Unless the single player campaign is exemplary, RFG is destined for the bargain bin.

Try using internet explorer. Firefox 3 and Opera..uhh...the newest one (9.5?) both failed me, but Internet Explorer worked just fine.

Played this yesterday... it's... not 'awesome', not 'horrible'. Sorta 'okay', I personally think.
The entire game (visuals, some aspects of movement/gameplay) reminds me of Tribes (showing my age, maybe), as well as a little bit of the old Quake/Doom deathmatches (just in the way it 'handles')
All of the buildings are destructible, which is a nice touch. One particular game, most of the other team quit, so we took it upon ourselves to level the whole map so we could find their one last guy. At the end, you could see clearly from one end of the map to the other.
The 'backpacks' are very cool (Rhino, baby!), and there are 5 with their own unique abilities (Jetpack, Sprinting, Concussion, Rhino, and Firepower (increased damage))
Concussion eminates a shockwave that radiates roughly 30 feet around you, knocking all enemies on their asses), while Rhino gives you a short but powerful burst of speed that kills anyone who gets in your way and also knocks holes in walls.
There's nothing like seeing an enemy on the other side of a wall and just crashing through it like the Kool-Aid Guy. Makes things pretty dramatic when you're on the receiving end (especially since us gamers are generally used to walls being 'safe').
Personally, I don't think I'd buy it (assuming it was released at a 'standard' price), but if you give it an hour to get a feel for how things work, you do start to appreciate some of the gameplay aspects, and before you know it, it's 3 AM :-/
Give it a try if you can, maybe you'll feel differently.

Tribes, you say? One of my alltime favorites. Can't wait till I download this. I just picked up Lost Planet:Colonies (30 bucks? Sold) and I am really enjoying it. Hopefully I'll like this too

Looks like I'm not the only one having trouble with Fileplanet. Is there any way other than shitty Fileplanet to get in on this?

Fileplanet offers downloads like videos, trailers, demos and more for PC and console users (demos excluded unless it's a special offer like this).

How exactly do you join the beta?
I click the link but then it just refreshes the page. :/
Any help on this would be great!

For all you people having problems getting the site to work!
No doubt you are using FireFox (the best browser in the world amrite?). It doesn't work properly in FF for me. Instead of opening IE (it works in IE) download IE tab for firefox, it's an add-on that renders pages exactly like IE does so if you have any problems (like this) then just click the icon and it will work. You can download IE tab here.

I did as you said, and it still doesn't work. :/
I opened the site up in 2 different versions of IE (64 bit version and normal IE) and still no luck. this is getting quite annoying now as I REALLY want to get into this beta as I loved the past ones.

I just did it my way again and it worked.
Just so you know;
1) I have an IGN free account.
2) I was getting the same as you (page just keeps refreshing)
3) I clicked the IE tab button and it worked.
4) I've tried this twice and it works for me.
The only conclusion I can come up with is if you don't have an IGN free account.
