Capcom teases Dead Rising on PlayStation blog

Here's everything we know about Dead Rising 2: it's coming. Really, that's it ... and even that, we don't know for sure; however, close watchers of the industry might remind you that a sequel to a successful game (now a franchise with the addition of the Wii-centric Chop Till You Drop) is more or less a certainty so, with that in mind, we've been on the prowl for Dead Rising 2 deets since the original debuted two years ago this month.

... and all we've got is a handful of rumors. The first: Dead Rising 2 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive; the second: Dead Rising 2 will be multiplatform and development duties will be handled by a Western developer. Oh, and both of those rumors are from the same source. Now, along comes Capcom marketing man John Diamonon posting on the official PlayStation.Blog site, dropping the smallest of teases that would seem to not only intimate another Dead Rising sequel is in development (no way!) but that it would be heading to the PlayStation 3 as well.

Diamonon's tease came in response to a barely legible comment praising the developer for supporting the PlayStation 3 and asking that despite Capcom's VP of business development and strategic planning Christian Svensson "saying that there is no chance in [sic] happening, please give us a bit of hope on Dead Rising." Diamonon's response: "You haven't seen the last of Dead Rising." Of course, we could interpret this comment any number of ways but we'd like to think that Capcom just threw a knowing wink and a smile our way. Right back atcha Cap'.

Yeah, that and none completely idiotic AI people to rescue. I'm all for the rescuing part. That's awesome, but for god sakes it was ridiculously annoying getting people up into the duct after a long treck getting them through the mall.

Bring it on, Dead Rising was one of the best 360 games out there if you could handle the brutal difficulty.

Frank West is also one of the best new characters of this generation of games. He's covered wars, you know.

What difficulty?

If he meant the difficulty of reading that damnably tiny print in-game, then yes... quite difficult.

Some of the wars Frank West covered were Gears of War,Guild wars,Star wars,Wars of worlds,Contra wars,Enemy Territory Quake Wars,Golf war,Cake wars and others.

Dead rising is the only game i have ever wanted to play on the 360, but i refuse to buy a 360 coz the hardware is so wank.

I would have liked it to be a Xbox 360 exclusive, but what the hell! Everyone can enjoy this awesome game now.

Yeah. I have a PS3 too. I just need to get some games for it. I bought it last year and the only game I have is Resistance haha.

theres a ton of good games for the ps3 open your mind maybe and play games like mgs4, motorstorm, heavenly sword, pixeljunk monsters, pixeljunk eden, tekken, warhawk, uncharted, gran turismo prologue....go buy some unless your the kind of person who ONLY like shooters

I would but a lack of money which being mostly spent on new PC parts and xbox 360 games has held me back. I'm not really interested in any of those games. Only one I might buy from that list is Drakes Fortune. I personally don't like MGS4. I will get it when it's in the bargain bin or something.

If only he were alive today... he'd easily get my vote to play Otis. Though I know they'll just end up getting John Witherspoon instead.

I like to think of Otis as the Navi of zombie-killing games.

Also, before the M$ defonce force comes after me like a pack of zombies (c what i did there)? The sound engineers on this game spent allot of time producing great sound effects and i would have liked to experience them, & not the sound of the dvd drive or the fans inside the machine.

I am a massive fan of zombie genre and I hope this games comes out on PS3 or PC

I even watched 'day of the dead' again last night and have diary of the dead here at my offices.

Bringing this to ps3 probably wouldn't be a bad thing even though i'm a 360 fanboy, i mean it'd be good for the series and Capcom. I don't see how it would make a difference to me whether or not it was multi platform, as long as i can get my Dead Rising 2 achievements i'm happy :D

I love how there is becoming less and less reasons to be a multi-console owner nowadays (You know, AFTER I buy the black smashed burrito). At least people can pick between a squashed burrito or HAL9k sandwich and be confident they'll be playing most of the good games, even if it takes a while to get their version of it (works both ways).

Black-Burrito-lovers should be happy; the original was an excellent game that compelled me to play several times through.

Not that i'm trying to impress, it's a pretty sad list compared to other exclusives and the high-end multiplatform titles, just clarifying

If you're going to count Home as a PS3 exclusive then you might as well count the Live update as well. Home isn't a game, it's basically a glorified GUI update.

Except of course there is more chance that the Live update will actually arrive.

I mind mediocrity, i just wanted to add things to the 360 list becuase the PS3 has a much better line-up, and i didn't want to sound like a PS3 fanboy (even though i kinda am).

and NO, the Live update is nothing but a graphical update. HOME is a game, and ur a loser. So....HA!

Well if it's a Dead Rising 1 port at least they'll get a proper port instead of the joke that is the wii version. I should really go out and re-buy Dead Rising for the 360. All of this talk about it makes me miss it.

Good game, but it never bodes well when the Japanese hand one of their titles over to Americans. And I'm not even a Japanophile, or one of those hip, smug, self-hating Americans - I just look at the horrible track record (Silent Hill 5, anyone?)
