That's the idea, basically. It redraws what was more of an open-world adventure title into something that is very much an action game, between adjustable difficulty and individualized missions

Which I, personally, approve of, though people who enjoyed the marathon nature of the original will find it a turn-off, I think this adds more replay value, since you can focus your replay on the fun missions and such

Every time some knob argues for dumbing down games even more, the baby Jesus cries.

Because it isn't necessarily dumbing the game down. It's just re-inventing it

Dead Rising: An Adventure game
Dead Rising: Chop 'Till You Drop: An Action game

The Action genre is certainly more accessible, but not dumbed down

Yeah it is pretty dumbed down. I heard they took the time limit away, which is SEVERELY dumbing it down. Sure it wasn't the greatest thing in the world but it made Dead Rising what it was, and added intensity to it. Now it's just Dead Rising but for casuals. A perfect example of why some gamers are worried about everyone following nintendo.

Hey if Nintendo can keep doing the same thing over and over (taking good games, dumbing them down, and adding on pointless and incongruous 'waggle' control) then I can keep using the same insult. But way to out-create me on the reply. Zinger!

How exactly is Nintendo dumbing down Dead Rising? All they did was license it for Wii development.

Also, Capcom is not dumbing it down either, they are just making it more action-based.

The only drawback is that the zombie models still look sadly muddy. Capcom's done much better

Some of it is superfluous waggle, but some of it seems to really click

That's basically how this sounds to me. Badly implemented waggle is bad, period, well implemented waggle adds to the gameplay which is good, and then there is waggle that might be frustrating to use, but is still implemented reasonably, which some people seem to feel is bad, but I feel is refreshing. From what I read right now, the waggle seems to mostly be well implemented or implemented reasonably, so I'm all for it.

It looks pretty good for a Wii game. Sadly, it's nothing compared to the 360 version. I think they threw in some 360 shots in that gallery though. Like the Helicopter shot, and the shot of Isabella and her brother.

To be fair, Wii games almost always look WAY worse in screenshots than they do in motion on a TV*.

Not to say that they look amazing, but screenshots sure don't do them any favors.

*unless you have one of those insanely big HDTVs, in which case I imagine they look just like the screenshots.

I don't know what all this "waggle" talk is about. RE4 Wii waggle was the best damn waggle to date.

It was so good you could head shot zombies one after the other and slash them to death while they were down.

I wonder if they've changed Frank's turning speed. Guns were absolutely useless against bosses because of how slow he moved.

I wonder if they'll throw in more save points. I didn't mind it but apparently it was a problem for alot of gamers.

I heard those complains too and I didn’t mind either, now that save points in the infinity mode would've been fantastic. I never got the 5 day and day achievement and I might never get it and that's because I can't play more than 2 hours and leaving the x360 on is just a waste of energy.

Save points in infinity mode should work this way you can just save once per day (2 hours) but if you are death, you are death and you have to restart.

I never thought once that the save points were a problem until I read about people complaining about them on the Internet. Maybe its just because I played too much to memorize the entire mall, but imo I think they don't need to change saving.

I wish they would have REmade RE2,3, or Code Veronica in the RE4 wii style instead of messing with Dead Rising.

They could even be lazy and get most of their assets from RE4 Wii and RE:Umbrella chronicles and still have a better game on their hands.

great, take typical already-crappy Capcom game mechanics and make them more convoluted.
