Blow explains, "I talked to some folks at Sony but they were not interested in carrying the game. Later on I talked to someone from a different division who *was* interested, but by then I had signed with Microsoft and started the XBLA port." Sounds like Sony may get a second chance of having the downloadable hit on its PSN service. In an interview with GameFocus, Braid creator Jonathan Blow says that a PlayStation 3 port "might happen in the future." He explained, "It's a limited exclusive, so if I were to try to make a PS3 or WiiWare version of the game, I would have to wait a little bit."
While Blow did not elaborate on how long the Xbox 360 timed exclusivity would last, he did reiterate that a PC release – presumably outside the limitations of any exclusivity contract – will "definitely happen this year" while a WiiWare release "is not going to happen for this game." With over 30K downloads already logged on Xbox Live Arcade, adding two additional platforms should go some way towards obviating that whole price dilemma situation.

I think you guys are taking it out of proportion I mean is a fine game indeed and if you love original platformers you should definitively check it out but it lacks of replay value.
Also that Portal was great too but people couldn't STFU about it.By the time I got my hands on Portal 90% of the dialogue was spoiled and I got it a few weeks later.

Portal really doesn't have any replay value either, unless you get the Windows PC version and bother to make or download user generated content.
Blow mentioned that a Level Editor is something he'd like to ship with the PC version of Braid, so problem solved :D

Yeah, now that it has sold well enough and it's hitting multiple platforms the price can drop to $10 when it hits the PSN network, just like that Blow character wanted.
Of course, that won't happen and he will be exposed for being the fraud he is.
His mindtricks sure work on Joystiq though.

I got portal a few weeks later too, so a lot of it had been spoiled. But i still really enjoyed it.
I'd say it had pretty high replay value though. Both in the achievements, trying to beat the scores, tying to perfect your portal technique, and simply playing around with portals and physics.
In fact, in my 20 odd years of gaming its one of a handful of games i've played twice. (Doom2 being the only other one i can think of right now). And I've been meaning to reinstall it and download all those extra levels too..
I can't play Braid as I dont have a 360. but it looks like the sort of game i'd love. I'm already sick of hearing about it though...

Good, it pains me to say this, but maybe the PS3 audience will be less bigoted towards this game because it doesn't have guns and military generals holding your hand through each sequence of gameplay.
I am dismayed at the unnecessary divisiveness of this title in the xbox community, especially when the xbox is trying so friggin hard to differentiate itself from the competition.

I wouldn't assume as much. Let's not forget one of the top PSN titles is STILL Mortal Kombat II.

That is where Wiiware would have made a brilliant platform for it. It even has some Nintendo jokes if that screenshot is anything to go by. I know the graphics may need to be lowered in resolution to get them compressed but look at Lostwinds for some decent Wiiware graphics.

Sweet! Reading all the praise I got sad over not having an xbox, but if it comes to PC I'm all happy.

It is. Blow was on last weeks 1up Show where he spoke about the PC version, and the possibility of added/different content that couldn't be included for one reason or another.

I hope Nintendo release the storage solution now. Braid would be a nice addition to the WiiWare library.

I'm quite disappointed to hear it won't be on WiiWare if only for the fact that this is the kind of game that would sell well.
No way I'm buying an xbox or PS3 just to play this. PC version would be nice though.

I don't see why it shouldn't come to PS3 more people playing what others see as a "masterpiece" is a great thing.
I'd like to see more PSN titles come to the 360 I'd really like to play WarHawk.

well Warhawk was made by Incognito, which was a studio owned by Sony. i think the studio has since disbanded; some went with Jaffe to form Eat, Sleep and Play, while others were absorbed into other Sony studios. in any event the Warhawk IP is owned by Sony.

A little too ambitious. The PixelJunk Series wouldn't work on the 360 cuz they have short attention spans, but others like PAIN or Calling All Cars could be good. Things like SIREN or Warhawk however should stay on PS3. Besides the fact that they would largely cap the XBLA size limit, they were made with PS3 hardware in mind, just like Bioshock was with 360 in mind, and they needed to completely revamp it for the PS3 release.

Had Braid been multi-platform from get-go it would have been 800 points/$10 and we wouldn't have these endless blogings displaying Blow's blow-hardiness.
This will be demonstrated this week as Bionic Commando Rearmed comes to XBLA/PSN at this more reasonable price point.
I say this as someone who prefers the 360, and who's enjoying Braid (despite being 400 points to much), but also as someone who appreciates the more consumer favorable pricing the PS3 competition breeds.

I think they should bring this game to most of the platforms.
This game would be a great budget title on the DS/PSP.

after sony told him to fuck off, why would he bring it over. it works well with wii controls and i thought nintendo was a little looser with royalties and all the business stuff.
Posted: Aug 11th 2008 9:14PM SheppyReturns said
Did Sony say fuck off? Because from what I hear, it was very early concept and Sony didn't show interest. I don't recall any story from Blow where Sony verbally assaulted him...

??? With the exception of Sixaxis, the 360 and PS3 controls are nearly identical! What would make anything about the PS3 handle it better? o_O
