Even those who indulge in the sanctioned decadence of a Hyborian lifestyle can find themselves bound to otherworldly codes of conduct, as one Age of Conan "Game Master" (real job, apparently) recently learned after he engaged in a brief, albeit illicit affair with one of the game's denizens. While some would-be sleuths have concluded that the incident was a classic case of entrapment, the governing authority nonetheless terminated the frolicking GM. "If the guidelines are broken there are consequences," Funcom has stated. Let this be a lesson to all of us working the virtual shift: Pants are to be worn at all times.

I usually try to be as understanding as possible...you know...try to keep an open mind, but the only thing that comes to mind is "What a loser!" I've been a GM before, it's not exactly the hardest job in the history of the world, and while the pay isn't great, you are basically getting payed to play...a game....how could you ruin that by sexing up a dude? You've got to know that cybering is against company policy..I mean..come on now.
I honestly thought this was a hoax, my mind is blown (pun completely intended).

Well, payed to play a game and have normal users complain to you all day long. I didn't get payed, mostly because it was the early days of MMO's, the company was a US branch of a then fledgling Korean MMO company, and I was below 18 years of age. Basically they employed (in the non-paying sense of the word) trusted users to be GM's, since they couldn't afford to hire actual GM's. Unfortunately this also gave rise to corrupt, power hungry dicks that ruled the game with an iron fist (note to future developers: Never give users ANY power over other users).
It sounds like this guy was in much the same role as me. He wasn't actively futzing with the server, but rather he was more of the 3D equivalent of a forum moderator (who wasn't doing his job...obviously). If it turns out that this guy was an actual GM in the "He's-sitting-next-to-the-servers" sense, I'd be even more amazed than I am now.
