Poor James Bond. The guy's been passed around so many times by so many companies that no one seems to know what to do with him any more. Activision was so open to ideas that they actually surveyed fans on what perspective they'd like to see in the next double-o adventure.
According to MTV, the community was divided, with 60 percent wanting a first-person view and 40 voting third-person. We know how Activision responded (including both perspectives in Quantum of Solace), but we're curious how you will: Is your perfect Bond game through the agent's eyes ... or the back of his head?

All games should simply copy the way that Metal Gear Solid 4 plays. That game plays like a dream.

Yup, thats why it got 10/10 and 5/5, because of the cutscenes ¬_¬

Say what you will about the game's content - it's not for everybody.
But the way the game CONTROLS and the way the game PLAYS (when you actually are playing) are top-notch. I can't complain at all about how easy and intuitive the gameplay is.

Maybe I'm crazy, because I loved the cutscenes, story, music, ambiance, etc, but thought the controls were sluggish and awful.
Seriously, combining several actions into one button and making the difference in which you're activating the joystiq was just stupid.
That game was saved by the pure awesomeness that you could find in every aspect of the game AROUND the controls, because the controls themselves were below average.

Lol, so they amde it both. Sometimes you shouldn't be listening to the demands of the community, though. If you did, you would have sex scenes in every game, at every possible point. Mario would be slamming peach after saving her, and cortana would give MC a cyber session...

3rd person is SOOOO much better for stealth games

Third Person gives so many more options. Better platforming, cover systems, the ability to enjoy your protagonists design.
First Person offers floating weapons, potential motion sickness, bobblehead cameras and horribly modelled hands.

I think it should be in 3rd person also (forgive me Goldeneye!) But these games are about a character all of us know and that should be focused on, rather than straight up action.
My 2 cents anyway...

I prefer 3rd person, more tactics available, taking cover, hiding, holding people ransom, etc etc is all easier and better in 3rd person, only have to compare the likes of Gears to Halo for example.

You know, it really doesn't matter whether or not they do first or third person gameplay so long as they do it right. For example, some companies do first person right while screwing up third person, such as Oblivion, the first person perspective in that game was good because it didn't hinder the ability to discern the range of your sword or how far you were from falling off of a cliff. However, the third person view was horrible because there really wasn't any ability to figure out where you really were exactly. I just hope that they learn from gears of war's third person perspective and make it similar to that and learn from Mirror's Edge's first person perspective because that's amazing.

For a Bond game, I'd probably say 3rd person would actually be better.
And of course, the one good game in the Bond game franchise was 1st person. >_>

...what? The World is Not Enough was first-person too. >_>
And that's the game I was thinking of, Goldeneye's great, but way overrated.

Voted up, best comeback of the year.
There are better Bond games, and much better Rare games. I'm tired of people going "OH YEAH I KNOW RARE LOLOLO I LOVED GOLDENEYE".
Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, the Donkey Kong Country series, Kameo, and Jet Force Gemini were all much better than Goldeneye.

I like games that just have solid controls. 1st or 3rd. I like how gears controlled, Third person except for aiming which was more of a first person. That was great

Either way, the team should make a decision.

I would look to games like PDZ for an example of how to make a game like this- even though it received many negative reviews a common feature was to point out that the transition to 3rd person was seamless when covering or rolling- and first person is in the blood of Bond.

Bond games will never win over my heart like Goldeneye 64 did so I couldn't care less.

3rd. I've had enough of first person shooters, really. I want the game to feel less like a generic shooter and more like an epic Bond movie, and for that third person is the way to go.

At least with FPS games you can't screw up the camera/controls horribly.

I've always loved SOCOM for the fact that you can easily switch between first and third person on the fly. Sometimes running around and shooting its nice to have that first person view, however I always feel vulnerable in first person. You can't tell exactly where you are and what's exposed.. 'Am I behind the tree or beside it?!??! ****, it doesn't matter now, cause I'm dead.'

i wanna say for a pierce brosnan bond id want first person. but for this bond, considering the parkour scene in the beginning of casino royale, ill take a third. ill wait and see how mirror's edge pans out to see if id like a first person game like that.

I think people need to stop expecting Goldeneye out of the next Bond game and just hope it's good. I personally think it's turning out great and can't wait to play it.

Which Bond game allowed the use of a RC helicopter and RC tank in multiplayer? I NEED to replay that game very badly.

I've always been a fan of the first person perspective for Bond games- maybe it's because the third person ones have been nothing more than auto-aim fests for dummies, and the fact that I've seen first person work perfectly in Goldeneye.
I think the route Activision is taking is a good one- the COD4 engine should be good to give the game a more realistic feel, while allowing you to take cover and do certain melee moves in third person will be a nice addition to that.
