Lionhead explains how to get Pub Games gold into Fable 2
If you've been curious precisely how you were going to import all that virtual gold you win in the Fable 2 Pub Games over the next ten weeks into Fable 2 proper, Lionhead is here to sate your curiosity and even assuage your skepticism. Eurogamer has the breakdown, but it goes something like this:
- Buy Fable 2 Pub Games (either outright, or through a pre-order)
- Play the three games contained therein to earn gold
- Merge your Pub Games gambler with your Fable 2 hero in a permanent, one-way process
- Then "gain access to all the Live Arcade gambling funds you previously accrued"
- The process works the other way around also: you can take your Fable 2 money back into Pub Games

This is kinda lame, seems like a way to make a quick buck on xbl, though its nice u get the option of getting the games by pre-ordering.

uh.. it's free when you pre-order fable.
the only people who would give a shit about this XBLA game are people who are interested in fable, and most of them likely pre-ordered. Which means (say it with me): they didn't pay for it.

This is very cool and all, but I'm not sure I want to start an RPG with a ton of gold. I mean where would the challenge be if I didn't have to worry about buying anything? A lot of the fun I get our of RPG's is from seeing a new powerful sword and earning it through battling countless monsters and taking on perilous quest.

with some game i wish this was an option, but in this case i would want to savor it. Im going by the cheevs

Then just play the pub games, save the gold, and give it to your character so he can buy a ginormous castle so he can retire within his mid-30s.

He said it would take a long long long time to get enough money to purchase anything in the game. It won't spoil the experience. Didn't he say one of the houses in the game was 100 million? If that is true you have a lot of gambling to do and you won't win everytime. Good Luck!

I agree that this could potentially take some of the fun out the game, but that's also a rather silly thing to worry about. Since I got the games for "free" after pre-ordering Fable I see them as a fun way to use my free time.
I say it's silly because no one will force me to merge my gambler and my Fable 2 characters. The game doesn't self-destruct after a single playthrough, so I can always play through it both ways. I played the original Fable (plus Lost Chapters), including most of the side quests and such, at least 4 times I'm sure I'll sink enough time into Fable 2 to get the full experience the game has to offer with and without the pub games gold.

Out of curiosity, are these original Fable-quish games or exactly what the minigames on Fable will be like?
LiqwidZero @ Aug 12th 2008 3:32PM
What the hell does "Fable-quish" mean?
Saria the Cat @ Aug 12th 2008 3:37PM
@Likwid: I'm guessing a variant on "ish."

A fun idea but a complete rip off if you aren't getting the game for free 'cause you wanted to preorder Fable anyway. Someone let me know if the games are actually fun.

Hurry and preorder on Amazon.com(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FRVAD4), they do not charge for preordering so you could always cancel after getting your code. Don't know how much longer they will offer it. Get it free while you can!

I used your link to pre-order. Hoefully the code somes through Friday as promised. I didn't know Amazon was in on this so you saved me a trip to Gamestop. First pre-order I've done in years.
