Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball on XBLA starting Sept. 3
Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball developer Blazing Lizard announced today it expects the title to release September 3 on XBLA for 800 MS points ($10). If short-term memory is kicking in, that date for an XBLA release probably sounds familiar because omni-directional shooter Shred Nebula will apparently release the same day.
Blazing Lizard's Studio Director Chris Stockman tells us PvN will feature two variations on dodgeball. Traditional: Where old-school rules apply and players can't cross the line. Then there's Enhanced: Players will have special moves for the four races in a crazy free-for-all. The four initial races in the game are Pirates, Ninjas, Zombies and Robots -- an additional group (we're guessing Aliens) will be available as DLC a month later.

Looks nice. I read that the game was delayed so that they could add in standard Dodge Ball gameplay along with the open world no bounds play. Hopefully it all works out and is fun to play. Looking forward to this.

I had no idea it was delayed for that reason. That seems promising. I look forward to the demo.

Looks cool, but I have to point out: the guy in silver is a samurai, not a ninja.
Snowblind @ Aug 12th 2008 4:29AM
I guess that's just to mix things up a little. There's also robots and zombies.
Park Zero @ Aug 12th 2008 10:48AM
No he’s a ninja practicing the art of deception. He is wearing Samurai armor to make you think that he’s not a ninja so he can smash a dodgeball in yo face!! If you would have read the official Pirates vs Ninja novel you would have known this, sheesh!
Imadogg @ Aug 12th 2008 5:58AM
Ah, gotta hold back some content for download.

Castle Crashers comes out the week before. That timing is unfortunate.

If you want to talk about unfortunate timing, let's talk about the fact that the whole pirate/ninja/zombie/robot/monkey meme thing is a little, well, 3 years ago (not to mention the whole dodgeball thing.) Since games take so long to develop, this company should have jumped the gun and created their own meme for the internerds to follow.
Like, I dunno, Nuns vs. Rodeo Clowns Hopscotch or something.
Actually, nobody steal that one, I think I'm going to start making a Wii Ware game out of that!

Coming the day after castle crasgers might suck but comine out the same day as spore is even worse!!!

Hey guys,
I look forward to hearing what you guys think of the game. If you have any feedback regarding the gameplay please send it to feedback@blazinglizard.com. We're committed to supporting the game after its release.
Park Zero @ Aug 12th 2008 11:59AM
All jokes aside, I am looking forward to trying this game out.

I hope the other group that will be released in a month is...Telemarketers. I've been wanting to knock the hell out of them with a dodgeball for years.
baby sea tuna @ Aug 12th 2008 1:00PM
Lol. Maybe it could be Telemarketers vs. Those-guys-that-stick-the-Chinese-restaurant-menus-in-your-door.
Courtney @ Aug 12th 2008 3:08PM
I just hope it's fun, I'm not burned out on ninjas or pirates yet (or zombies for that matter). Now robots, screw those guys.

Live Arcade is really stepping up its game this year, after the sleugh of terrible retro games and half baked puzzlers title's like Braid, this, Castle Crashers, Geo Wars2 and more are finally bringing my money to the service.
