We rather like trilogies. Not only are they narratively neat, allowing us to indulge in our favorite characters and universes just long enough, but they bring things to a close before the roman numerals get all complicated with incomprehensible Vs an Ms and stuff. Letters for counting? Ridiculous!
Despite this bothersome mental hurdle, developer Blizzard remains unrepentant when delving into the rich fantasy world it has crafted for Diablo. While the upcoming, artistically controversial three-I'd installment brings the trilogy's story of demonic overlords and highly uncomfortable facial jewelry to an end, it'll leave the portal open for future games, lead designer Jay Wilson tells MTV Multiplayer. "We're not saying this is the end of the 'Diablo' universe, but we are trying to bring this storyline to a close," says Wilson. "It's not just 'Diablo III' - we've got plans beyond."
Oh, and don't even bother submitting "World of Diablo." The commenter above you already did.

I think I know whats planned, expansion packs of course, and then a change of name for the Diablo games, naming it Diablo makes it too restrictive, as all focus is on....well...diablo :S Would seem a tad stupid having a Diablo game with another creature as the boss instead of Diablo and Diablo can't keep reviving like this, I'll get retarded, people will begin to think, 'If I bloody killed Diablo 3 times already and hes coming back a fourth time, I might as well have skipped playing all those games up to Diablo 4', I mean poor Diablo, to get pwned not once, not twice, not three times, but 4+??? People will definatly start loosing thier respect for the underworld.
'Whats that? Diablo the hellraiser and demon of terror and chaos is on the verge of destroying the owrld again? No worries there mate, I've killed it 3 times already, gimme another beer and I'll go kill him again for ya after'

Mephisto, Mephisto II, Mephisto III, Baal, Baal II, Baal III
Seriously though, I thought they already ended the story line (or should with an expansion or something). From Blizzard's Diablo III website, "seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil," sounds like a new story to me. This should be Mephisto I, not Diablo III.
