Those of you whose computers e-cowered in fear at the system requirements for Crysis will get another chance to enter the game's world when Crysis Warhead lands in Europe on Sept. 12 and Sept. 16 in North America. More than just a side story to Crytek's excellent game, Warhead purports to actually be a touch less system-intensive than its burly predecessor.
Special side note for those of you who love bargains as much as throwing bad guys into oceans with your cyber-muscles: You can pre-order the game right now in the EA Store for $24.99, a five-dollar savings for you, the consumer.
OMG.....this looks like it could replace the Crysis game sitting in my computer now! The graphics look amazing as always and I hope the game play is a good as before. Hopefully this game will be playable on some of my friend's PCs.
Hmm.....really you think my opinion about the game was a spam bot....hmm. I hate to prove you wrong...but I don't think a spam bot has an opinion about others comments.
I hope the rumors of optimizations for higher-end systems are true, I could use another 10 or so fps. Either way people need to buy this if they want Crysis 2.
Looks... like Crysis... Didn't like the first, only got it for the shiny-shiny graphics. As such, I won't be picking this one up, it looks identical to the first installment.
Actually the original Crysis looked better to me. I think the fast paced action conceals a lot of the missing details that are in the original. The lighting also seems to be a step down which is probably the most GPU expensive effect.
It's kind of the way people thought Gears looked as good as Crysis. Or how people still believe Killzone 2 actually looks like the target renders.
Too bad you have to use the absolutely awful EA downloader to get the game. If they used a good system, like Steam, then I wouldn't mind. I mean, 3 installs, no more, and it started malfunction on my second install of CNC3 also. Also, you can only download the game for 6 months unless you pay extra. Thankfully that bullshit wasn't there when I bought CNC3 so I can still do that at least.
Don't let the discount fool you. You'll only end up screwed over by EA if you don't get it on a disc instead.
Contrary to popular belief about this game's optimization, the only thing that has been optimized are the medium and low settings.
Essentially the settings that are set below high have received further reduction in detail in order to truly help out slower computers.
Any Crysis player will know that the medium visuals are nearly identical to high (lighting, shadows, and hdr are more absent in medium). Hence why Crysis ran pretty much "unplayable" for lower end GPUs (nVidia & ATi tried very hard to optimize their drivers which did help out a bit).
So those looking to play on high settings with their weaker GPUs hoping that performance will be better ... it won't (It won't matter for high end users anyway since only high end GPUs can handle the higher settings).

It takes place at the same time and in the same place as Crysis; what did you expect it to look like?
Turkish Superman @ Aug 13th 2008 3:43PM
Did you also complain that Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift looked "identical" to Half-Life?
TomCo @ Aug 13th 2008 11:38PM
Blue Shift didn't, it came with a texture and model update.
BananaBoat @ Aug 13th 2008 11:42PM
I'm sure the graphics haven't actually taken a step back from the original. This trailer does give that impression though.
I'll pick it up anyway, in hopes that they're actually putting some work into the story this time around.

Damn shame, I can't take advantage of that $5 discount as I shall not be a consumer of this game.
WiiFTW @ Aug 13th 2008 11:00AM
Looks like a maybe-buy to me. I'm waiting for reviews/reports of multiplayer.
Heh {XBL: P4nic 4tt4ck} @ Aug 13th 2008 3:24PM
First Crysis sucked ass.
Aside from graphics, it was average.
I expect the same from this game.

i have a core 2 quad q6600 2.4 with 3Gb of memory...can anyone recommend me anything (hardware or tips/tricks) that can get this or crysis to work?
Grimble Crumble @ Aug 13th 2008 2:43PM
A graphics card perhaps?
Hotrod @ Aug 13th 2008 12:59PM
Yeah, ATi 4870 X2
Deeznuts420 @ Aug 13th 2008 1:30PM
something more affordable? lol
Zeus.:God @ Aug 13th 2008 4:48PM
Yeah- the 9800GTX+ is a sub 200 dollar card... the GTX 260 is a good card, as well as the 4850 and 70...

Looks pretty much the same to me. I'm guessing they just improved on efficiency a lot and optimized.
