Left 4 Dead going on world tour

Not unlike the unfortunate victims and eventual accomplices in a zombie apocalypse, Valve's Left 4 Dead will soon be spreading across the world, exposing itself to clamoring crowds of pale-skinned, physically sluggish moaners. The cooperative shooter will be hosted in playable form at several upcoming gaming events, giving folks like you the chance to experience what we've been raving about. Here's where you can give the game a good go:

Leipzig Games Convention (Germany, 20-24 August)
Penny Arcade Expo (Seattle, USA, August 29-31) -- Xbox 360 version debut
Festival Du Jeu Video (France, 26-28 September)
PC Gamer Showdown (UK, 27-28 September)

As if mowing down hordes of zombies on your way to the Left 4 Dead booth wasn't incentive enough to go play, Valve has promised that its people will be nearby to dispense information and game "memorabilia." Very nice! All we got at E3 were some mints.

It certainly does have something to do with your post buddy. You were the one that suggested they could in fact run not long ago. And to Obie, Romero is not happy with the Dawn of the Dead remake and how the zombies ran, so obviously it doesn't count since the man himself said so.

great, now fucking release it already! I feel like I've been waiting for this game for an eternity.. every video I see looks like a 100% finished game, what's the holdup?

Quality. Plenty of games that are 100% done and released look good in videos, but then end up full of glitches and bugs. But Valve games have never had half the problems plenty of other games have had. Valve games have always had great quality, and that doesn't come without a price. That price is time.

meh, so long as it's not a 2 hour snoozefest like HL2 Ep2 was. I mean, I know they polish their games before release.. but on top of that I have a feeling they're just slow. I've worked in environments like what I picture valve to be.. extremely high quality finished product, but very laid back and unconcerned development cycle.

HL2:EP2 was awesome! I can't wait for EP3! Could be because I'm a huge HL fan though... Either way I'm always willing to wait for a Game. Generally they're better that way.

Did the devs ever include a mode I heard rumors of in the very beginning? There's the 4 player coop but then there's also room for another person to control the herds of zombies rts style...anyone? Does this exist? I haven't heard anything about it in a while.

I read on more than one occassion that there will be other players controlling the "stronger" enemies of the game.

This was a long time ago and may have been cut out since, but it sounded like YOU had the option of being an enemy boss or particularly difficult enemy.

But I read way too many previews and reviews to know where I've read it. I never heard it was going to be RTS style though. Interesting if true.
