ShackNews ran a piece today, pretty much
reiterating our details from a couple weeks back, about the status of various
Rock Band 2 release dates. Many retailers are still listing the release date for the standalone disc and individual instruments for
Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 as
Sept. 14. All other console versions, along with the Xbox 360 "Special Edition" bundle with all the instruments included, are currently listed with an Oct. 19 release.
A Harmonix rep responded today to Joystiq's inquiry on the subject saying, "We have not confirmed this information yet."
Well, looking at the dates here, it's about time someone did.

Yeah. Its been a freakin long wait. maybe if a little less effort was going into RB2 and more into getting RB1 out in Australia we would have it by now. Its a bit of a joke that we don't even have a release date yet.

Yeah... that date has been in the system for well over a month.
Gamestop ALWAYS changes the date if they know for a fact it's wrong. Then it usually ends up with a placeholder date of like 10/1 or something.
But this has a ship date and a street date.
It's real.

I can 100% percent tell you that the stand alone xbox game comes out on Sept 14th and the "special edition" and bundles come out on Oct 19. MS greased the wheels to make that happen. I am not sure about the instruments being sold on the 14th or 19th as stand alones though.
