The perpetually patched Team Fortress 2 is about to get its "largest update ever" (dare we say heaviest?) next week on August 19. In the lead-up, Valve is releasing new information and screenshots about the patch each day, as well as a "special installment to the 'Meet the Team' series of video shorts," according to the press release. The community map cp_steel was revealed on the first day.
Besides new weapons and achievements for the Heavy class, the next update will include new multiplayer maps and a "brand new gameplay mode," possibly related to the new type of environment we heard about earlier this month. As with the other updates, Valve is offering a free Team Fortress 2 weekend starting August 22 at 2pm ET.

Valve make pretty much the only game updates I would pay for, and then give them away for free.

It's not really a patch, it's more of an update. Patches fix errors with the game. Valve does these too, but they are more-or-less silent ones. Updates add new content.
This article makes it seem like there's something wrong with Team Fortress 2. Not so, this is just simply Valve's way of keeping the game fresh (and was always their plan, since Steam works so well for content like this).
Also, patches are usually more-or-less optional for most games.

Can we press Valve again on when any of the additions that they've made to TF2 will translate to the 360 version?

My guess is the 360 will be updated either a) never or b) when all the pc updates come.
Just spend the $20 on the game. Hell, to even get a PC to run this game you only need like $100 bucks.

I bought the PC vesion just to play some of the updates, and felt like a fish out of water. The PC version plays completely differently. I couldn't get proficient with the controls. I guess if you played the game first on the PC, you probably like it there, but I first played the game on the 360. For some reason, it just feels tighter on the 360 control wise.

SWEET!! *crosses fingers and hopes for meet the pyro*
I just hope all of the servers don't end up full of arses grinding for achievements...I was kicked out of SO many games after the last update for attempting to *gasp* play normally *!!!* on a (seemingly) normal server. -_-

I'm going to guess the "Don't Touch Sandvich" achievement is related to killing x number of scouts in melee....

lol@ all the losers with consoles out there. If you haven't played a FPS with a keyboard/mouse, then you haven't played a FPS. The reason why XBOX players can't play on the same servers as PC players is there's just no comparison in skill. With a mouse you can aim, with a joypad you need autoaim to lock on before you can hit shit. There is no such thing as a console FPS lol.
