"V8 Arcade enters its final submission." That's the headline we read this morning over at sister site Xbox 360 Fanboy and were totally excited to pass it along to you guys. That was just moments before we realized that, by and large, a lot of you probably don't realize why that's so rad.
So, for the uninitiated: Vigilante 8 (besides having one of the best titles ever) is a lot like Twisted Metal, only add better physics and subtract the awful hair metal aesthetic. Even that description's a little lackluster, but no matter: It's just been submitted to Microsoft for final approval and you'll be able to play it soon. We hope.

You make it sound like vigilante 8 is better then Twisted Metal... which we all know isn't true. It's not bad but unless they fixed some of the glaring gameplay issues from back in the day Twisted Metal Black is still the best Car Combat game available.

Looked like foot? What?
Anyway, it seems we have a lot of V8 fans around here. I'm a bit surprised. I like it too, but I always though TM was clearly better. I guess I just preferred the faster and more intense action of the TM series. Critical Depth was actually my favorite vehicular combat game. So under rated.

Vigilante 8 is far much better than twisted metal, I've played twisted metal for like one week and then a friend of mine showed me vigilante 8 and I stopped playing twisted metal since then and I started to go to my friends house almost every day just to play with him, then i got the game for myself and showed it to some of my friends all of them have my opinion, since, so i am sure that V8 is much better that twisted metal

If you have not played this game...get it, I enjoyed this game as much as TM1 & TM2. Some of the levels are really well done.

I believe Viglante 8 is by far the best "car combat" game out there. Twisted Metal 1 & 2 were great, everything after that was crap, including Black. Viglante 8 added combos for your gun upgrades, actual good specials, not 6 different versions of a missle attack named differently....and the maps were interactive, including space shuddles, crocodiles, aliens, ski lifts.......man cant wait for this game.

I remember V8 as being the best of the car combat games from that era. If this is an HD update, I might be tempted to bite.

No all we need is some SF Rush 2 & Rush 2049 and I will be happy!!!!!
And have the arena were you can use your car's retractable wings to fly in low gravity, doing stunts and trying to get those hidden ball thingys.
I was im love with V8 on the 64.

This could be one of XBLAs best games ever. I only played Twisted Metal Head On and it was ok, but didn't have the same level of destructability as V8 or the cool level on the hoover damn.

I'm just about ready to get a 360 based on the arcade offerings alone. Sheesh.

Ooo, nice.
This can fill the void left by not wanting to buy FlatOut:UC, since I already own FO2.

Man, is there any plans of this coming out for PSN? I mean, the V8 games did get a start on the PS1, so its only fair.

All I remember was the slow ass tow truck that shot out a flaming spare tire with an awful voice over that said:
"Need a little helper?" You could do that move fairly fast and it sounded like really bad hip hop. Great stuff.

I still have my copy of Vigilante8--didn't really care for it all that much. IMO, TM2 has been the best game in this category so far. I thought that TM:Black played like V8 and I didn't care for it all that much either. maybe it's time for me to revisit my TM2 disc--but the online play is a pretty damn compelling to get V8:arcade....dammit. decisions, decisions.

Think about it Twisted Metal fans...There would be no Twisted Metal if it were not for Vigilante 8. Duh.
Both games are good tho...Vigilante was simply the pioneer of car combat.

Wait, BETTER physics? They both weren't that great. V8: 2nd Offense was too bouncy.

I don't get the people argueing over whether V8 is TM is better. Who cares, V8 Arcade is gonna be fun, and since it's on the arcade, cheap.
I loved the V8 games for my n64, I'm definately picking this up.

Wow you made me take out both my copies of Vigilante 8 and the Second Offense sequel. Man that game brings back memories from my old school PS1, now if only that game got a version for this gen of consoles.

No, Jim you are wrong. Twisted Metal 1 & 2 came out before Vigilante 8. I wouldn't have a problem with the author's view if he simply stated that it was HIS opinion. Because that is all it is. Vigilante 8's physics were too close to TM3's for me, meaning they were ok, and the music, particualarly TM2's just felt perfect to me. If voted on I am almost certain Twisted Metal would win.
