Eh, solo game for me. I certainly don't need another drum set and another guitar and another mic, regardless of them being wireless or not. I hate dealing with batteries anyways. Too bad for those wanting the bundle though. Maybe buy the game solo, then buy the bundle and return the bundled game with your solo game receipt. Usually you have 30-90 days.

I would be a bit worried about returning the game that comes with the bundle often times those don't have a bar code (not for retail sale). Just a warning....

The original Rock Band was a UPC labeled game in the big box, so it could have been returned.

Same with the GTA special edition. It too had a barcode. Same exact game.

im just gettin the game only, so i could care less. we still have the big time advantage over the PS3 cuz most people who will buy Rock Band 2 right away will be the people who had RB1, and who need the game only.

I've already got the drums and guitars, so it's the standalone game for me. I'll buy the new instruments when the ones I have break.

Not exactly news.. Gamestop sent emails out w/ those dates sometime during E3... Actually 7/15 was the day it arrived in my inbox, saying:
"Just Released: Rock Band 2 Set List!
In addition to the new set list, check our Rock Band 2 product pages for a video trailer, as well. Xbox 360 owners will get the first crack at Rock Band 2 when the stand-alone game releases September 14, with the Special Edition Bundle following on October 19. PS3 owners will get their chance with both the game and the bundle on October 19. Wii and PS2 owners will have to wait until November 18. Pre-order online now or reserve at your local GameStop."

I know how you feel, i got the same message from gamestop. i was kind of surprised to learn that not everyone already knew about the differing release dates. Besides i don't need another drum, guitar, or mic even if they are wireless.

I also had my worries about this when i saw the the countdown on IGN was diffrent for the 360 special edition and the 360 standard. All signs are pointing to this being confermed.

Yeah, all these sites are reporting this like it's just been announced. The bundle was always set as an October release. Only the standalone was coming out in September, and only on 360, thus the timed exclusivity.
Standalone is preordered and my wife and I are looking forward to getting Raphaengetellonardo back together for a fall tour.

It is meant to compete with the bundle or "band kit" for guitar hero world tour which comes out 10/29 and Rock Revolution which comes out 10/14. I think it is kind of stupid for the "game only" to be released early, but I will end up buying it since I have the first game.
