Above you'll see the introduction of Mega Man 9, Capcom's return to the Blue Bomber's 8-bit roots. We're still not quite sure what to make of the decision to release a Mega Man game using antiquated graphics and recycling bosses yet again, but we have to admit that the introduction does conjure up some good memories. Hopefully the actual game manages to do the same thing. It would help if it was fun too.
Also, keep your eyes out for Chun-Li, who has apparently abandoned her quest to be the strongest woman in the world for a more mundane career.
I kind of have to give them kudos for doing this even if it's not what I would want out of a MegaMan game. If they came out with MegaMan2 with 3D graphics (but 2D gameplay) I'd be pretty excited.
Um.. what makes you think they're being lazy here? I promise you it's no walk in the park to make a 2d pixel-art kinda game, even in this day and age. Especially considering the level of old-school "detail" (such as flickering sprites) that they're putting into the game... I promise you there is no laziness involved.
Compared to games like Bionic Commando, Pac Man CE, and Geometry Wars MM9 looks lazy and uninspired. This looks like just another Megaman game, but with obvious injokes for blogs to shit their pants over covering.
God bless the long-winded-Japanese-video-game cutscene. In 8-bit no less. LOL. I might get this just to see if the 'ol reflexes are still there. I haven't played Mega Man for like 15 years.
I think it's pretty much guaranteed that this game will be 1.) good and 2.) sell extremely well. I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up in the top rankings of XBLA games in general in terms of sales.
I'll buy this game for sure if they don't forget the most important feature...
Pushing A to skip to the next cut...
Because nothing is more annoying...
Than reading short...
Lines of text with horrid...
Sound effects in the background...
But, seriously, was anyone else bothered by the phone ringing in the scene with Auto & Roll? I'll also agree with Nueromancer, 2D side scrolling with 3D character art & particle effects would be pretty sweet. Something like New Super Mario Bros. for the DS come to mind.
