Developer Black Box's nitro button must be worn down to a nub. The studio announced today that its upcoming Need for Speed sequel, Undercover, will ship this November, pulling up to the starting line well before the 2009 release previously mentioned by EA CEO John Riccitiello.
In development for every platform under the sun (yes, even mobile phones), Need for Speed Undercover will also sport what Black Box describes as "big-budget live-action sequences" starring Balls of Fury and Mission Impossible III actress, Maggie Q, as a federal agent who recruits drivers to take down a criminal syndicate. While recent Need for Speed racers have all but siphoned our tanks of what enthusiasm we once had for the series, those who care can look forward to race with Ms. Q in North America on November 18 and in Europe on November 21.

Saying that brings back a whole lot of memories about the first Hot Pursuit. Ahh, Nothing like the good ol' days (of racing games)...

They could, if they weren't so fucking obsessed with underground bullshit.
There's nothing better than Hot Pursuit mode in NFS. Just a more advanced version of Hot Pursuit. Maybe even a "Driver Hunt" multiplayer mode in which a single player is chased by a bunch of human cops.

Okay, now that I've caught my breath from laughing so hard over this... I'm going to name my character "Brian O'Connor" and be the envy of every annoying 2NR out there.
No offense to those who seriously enjoy car modification, but EA doesn't give a rat's ass about you - as evident by the NFS series since NFSUnderground 2.

MOST WANTED was about their best recent attempt at a good recent NFS(it wasn't bad on the PSP either); but they continue to use that damned rubberband difficulty/CPU compensator when you're kicking its ass in any of the races. MARIO KART WII does this crap too, but at least it's with item-shock.

The problem with Need for Speed games is that it tries SO hard to be The Fast and the Furious.

I would love to see a game like Underground 2, just fixing the flaws the open city design had. I really loved that game.
Hot Pursuit, Underground 2, and Most Wanted are my favorite NFS games.

My thoughts exactly. Midnight Club LA comes out a month before this, and I'll be hitting up Rockstar San Diego's latest instead of this dreck. Sorry, EA, but this is the first NFS I'm skipping...

HP: Superb!
HP2: Super superb!
Underground: NO.
Underground 2: NO.
MW: Superb!
Carbon: .....eh.
The last one, who's name escapes me..: NO.
An NFS isn't worth playing if it doesn't have
1) Cops
2) Cop chases
3) High speed cop chases
4) High Speed Cop chases whilst riding exotics.
That's what NFS is all about. That's what singles it out. Without that, it's just another arcade racer, with absolutely nothing unique to set it apart.
Better yet, just give the license to Criterion. Let them make Burnout with Cop chases. Better yet, let me outrun a dinosaur in a burnout, or outrun lava from a valcano, just let me outrun anything neat in a Burnout! Now that'd be awesome.
