SOCOM pre-order comes with 3 beta keys
You and a friend can now join in the SOCOM Confrontation beta just by bullying some other friend to pre-order the game from Gamestop. According to an email sent out to the PlayStation Underground members, a Confrontation pre-order will net you participation in the public beta and the ability to invite two friends for free. If you read the fine print, however, the deal is rendered immediately null and void should either party decide to end the friendship. Sony keeps a very strict "friends only" policy. The public beta begins September 1 for pre-orders and September 8 for Qore subscribers.

Yea Bad Company is awesome, it was the first console game I loved online since Warhawk. I can only hope SOCOM can 1up it. It would have to be really good to pass on cool vehicles and destructible environments.

If anyone does this and needs someone to give a beta to, I'd be pleased to accept it!
Mr.ESC @ Aug 15th 2008 12:24AM
I don't know if anyone would give the code to someone that just asked for it in the internet just like that and If they did they would probably want something in exchane like well just for saying and probably no one will ever ask you this for exchange but for mere sake of argument let's say they want....YOUR ETERNAL SOUL,MORTAL MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
NukeAssault @ Aug 15th 2008 12:38AM
I was just about to write a post saying id have no one to give one to. Good sir if i do this you'll be the first to know.... some how. Haha.

Mr. Esc, that really does work. I got into the Crysis beta by asking people to share their key.
Moffka @ Aug 15th 2008 12:26AM
Picked up my beta key today at gamestop. So I'm set. I got an extra key as well.

Superstar90 @ Aug 15th 2008 12:30AM
I love SOCOM, but sadly this will be the first SOCOM game that I don't buy within a week (except the phone version) because I don't have a PS3 yet :(
But apparently it's online only and I really don't like online shooters, someone always has lag and everyone else is 10x better than you.
caramelzappa @ Aug 15th 2008 1:34AM
I think our arguement in the Overlord thread had mostly to do with game choice, really. Online shooters are how I spend my time. (Mainly Team Fortress 2, PC of course)
And you kept mentioning games with lots of cutscenes and good story, but I'm only interested in games for the actual core gameplay. I prefer a game to have great gameplay and be fast paced. I watch movies and read books when I want story. (Bioshock is an exception)
To each his own I guess.
As for Socom giving multiple keys out per preorder is a great idea. It not only allows them to get more testing out of the game before it's released, but also can pull in more potential customers. I really wish more developers would take this direction.
I won't be getting it myself, since I'm not getting a PS3, plus I hate playing shooters on pads. Oh well, I hope lots of people enjoy it.
phinnvr6 @ Aug 15th 2008 3:56PM
I disagree, Bad Company is 95% of the time lag free and an awesome experience. And I've gotten pretty good at the game. I'm amusing SOCOM will be the same, but I'll wait for reviews.
Chase @ Aug 15th 2008 2:56AM
Interesting---but I'm not preordering it.
Tomheivers @ Aug 15th 2008 6:15AM
USA only, I presume?
Isn't there a continent called Europe?

Does EB count for Canadians???
Crazy @ Aug 20th 2008 10:43AM
Yes, EB Games will have them for Canadians, although they probably won't have them for about another week. Well at least my EB Games anyways..
