It's not exactly a big secret that the summer months usually make for low software/hardware sales with the exception of a big release here and there. This year it was MGS4. Last year it was Bioshock.
Whatever. This is big news for the 360 in Japan. If they can keep delivering on the JRPGs, they could finally get a foothold over there.

Remember all the "Sony is doomed" messages last year in every single Sony related post? Well, you have to ask serious questions about the 360's viability now - given that it sells just 24k after the launch of a major title like like Tales of Vesperia and DESPITE Ace Combat, , Mistwalker all exclusive, while being beaten in US for months at the same time.
Gears 2 will be fantastic - as well as virtually the same as Gears 1 AND available on PC soon. And it has to compete with 4 Sony exclusive shooters all on its own.
Resistance, SOCOM are established franchises. Socom is second only to halo in its following, Resistance 2 is actually adding a lot and looks a serious system seller.
And MAG CGI trailers - well KZ2 does seem close to that trailer now doesnt it? And as far as handling 256 is concerned - Sony's dedicated servers will be able to handle it. Live's P2P cant. As simple as that.

Those guys are good and the premise sounds promising except for the fact that pull 256 player in a single battle sounds LAGtastic unless everybody by then owns a 50MB connection or the graphics are Wow-ish.
Also even if they manage to make it work is going to be confusing, I mean have you ever played B:BC ? Teamkills are very frequent because everything is grey, brown or black making very confusing recognize between your team or the enemy. I can’t count how many times I’ve been knifed by my team mates and I can’t blame them because I have done the same and the Squad respawn doesn’t helps, sometimes I wonder if the guy next to me is the enemy or one of my own squad and it really hurts when you realize it was the enemy when you get knifed.
The best part is that there are only 20 to 24 players in the same match, now imagine 256.
(By the other hand B:BC helps you to recognize between several tones of Grey, brown, black and Blue.)

Well, when I saw 256 players, I doubted.... but then I read that, like Resistance 2, the maps will be huge and you'll be working in smaller teams taking points or defending them to help turn the tide of the larger battle. It's sound in theory and the Zipper guys have a ton of time to get it all balanced out.
I guess everyone else is looking at it as a super crowded FPS.... I'm looking at it more as a Dynasty Warriors with gun, no soldiers (just generals), and 128 players per side all vying for various checkpoints.

The 360 has been constantly outselling the PS3.
360 sales have just been going up and up in Japan while all the others go down.
These is just a bigger bump.
And I am glad about it,the 360 is a good console and I think its the right console that should dominate these gen..

Let's see MS says they are still trying hard to figure out the Japanese gamers. Yet, everytime a big Japanese RPG comes out for the 360 sales spike... So whats so hard to figure out?? MS Lets say this one more time the answer is more great Japanese RPGs... and for your next system you may want to I don't know maybe launch with one?? But, hey, what do I know I just notice when sales spike for the 360 and when they don't over in the land of the rising sun. Didn't take long for me to figure out.
