DS Daily: Do you plan on catching this?

Pokémon Platinum will hopefully be arriving in the States at ... some point later this year, but until then Nintendo needs to get us in the right frame of mind for parting with our monies. To this end, the company is releasing the above limited edition Onyx DS Lite with Dialga and Palkia art, along with a pile of appropriately themed freebies.

Our Pokémon-branded calendar confirms that this is launching tomorrow in the States, so who's picking it up? And has anybody else managed to pick it up early, like jammy DS Fanboy reader Tom?

Did any one notice the mess-ups?

It says "ships," thats not the release date.

Placed a preorder to decide whether to get it or not only to find out that Amazon shipped it early >_> so pretty much stuck with the thing (or maybe it's a sign who knows) definitely not opening the box.

Ditto. Besides, mine is already better in a couple ways:

- DPad doesn't suck.
- GBA carts don't stick out.

I'd rather buy games.

....Now, if my DS happened to break, I'd totally pick one up, but my DS will never break, in all likelihood, given my intense love for said DS, and my intense and all-encompassing OCD that helps me protect it.

I'm saving all my money for September when a bunch of good games are being released. Also, I hate the black DS, my brother had one before and it's not a slick as the white and pink ones. The extras are nice, but not enough to entice me to buy another DS (especially one with a color I hate).

Eighth-ed. Even though it looks cool, I think I'll stick with my white until it breaks so I can get red (hopefully...).

Besides, it's not even over in Europe yet. ;)

My Zelda Gold Ds is good enough for me :)

I picked mine up at Toys R Us on Wednesday (like a few other readers).

It's honestly really cool. It's kind of a dark silver on all the matte surfaces, and the case it comes with is just what I was looking for. It just fits the DS and 3 games. I love it so far.

I hope to. But I probably won't. I'm too poor, and by the time I raise enough money for it, it'll be out of stores. Maybe, if it's still in stores when Christmas rolls around, I'll have enough, but then it's going to be sold out anyway.

Pish. I don't have that kind of disposable income

The Wal-Mart in Valencia, CA had about 10 in the case ready for sale as of Friday, August 15th.

I asked to see it just to make sure it was the real deal. They took the box out of the display case and were expecting to ring me up when I had to say I was just looking.

I've still got a sneaking suspicion there will be another special edition around the time of Pokemon: Platinum release so I'm holding off on this purchase.

Especially with DS sales slumping in Japan, a new Pokemon SE with what looks like the best Pokemon game yet would make a lot of sense to me.

Game Stop in Hpuston, (S.Sheppard/Westheimer) had 3 yesterday, I bought one just becuase I have the gold Zelda and the Gold Advance Sp Pikachu. I am a total Nintendo freak, I'm saving these to maybe sell or donate for charity auction someday.

Already purchased it, had lots of store credit at GameStop to blow and didn't really see any other DS games that I wanted.

Haven't unboxed it yet. May just stick it along with the other collectibles I have.

GameStop's street date is 8/20/08 hmmm. Saw it at Best Buy today lol.

Why'd you remove your video from youtube?

I got mine yesterday but im still debating if its worth opening since I already have a DS. If I do open it though this marks my third DS so far.

ALTHOUGH, the T-Shirt looks badass. Too bad they only have sizes up to Large. :(

I really want it even though my pink DS works just fine. My brother does owe me some money so if I'm lucky by the end of the month I can at least get the cost of this outta him and get myself one.

Nah, I just bought a pink DS Lite today. I'm more than happy with it.

Got mine yesterday at Gamestop, and surprisingly, the manager told me that I managed to snag the last T-shirt. It looks pretty good--no bold, blatant Gamestop logo, and the design mostly matches the DS.
As for the DS bundle itself, I just have to say that the box took me a good long time to open...(What kind of glue did they use?)

It seems like everyone who is buying this isn't bothering to open it.

So I'm changing my answer to, "I'm going to buy one when eBay is flooded with these and I can get one for 10$"

Would get it if that snazzy Platinum DS didn't exist. But it does, so tough luck, Gamestop.

Plus, I've been promoted from poor house bum (who cleans) to poor college student, so I shouldn't be able to afford a second DS.

Yeah but it's a slim chance that they would release the Pokemon Platinum DS whenever they release Pokemon Platinum in the states.

True, Riokenn, but the very existence of such a DS means I won't be picking up a DP DS. I can always import the Platinum DS if/when I can afford it.

Last year? Odd, are you sure you arent' referring to another Limited Edition DS lite?

The pokemoncenter.com (gone) had a bundle up a while ago, or he could have imported it from Japan.

I have a black (or onyx) ds lite now as it is... it shows all the fingerprints and scratches on the case unfortunantly.

You have no idea how hard it is to get a US DS over to Europe without using Ebay...but this ds and a navy ds are headed to me soon....that makes 8 dses for me XD

I picked mine up on Friday and I'm glad that did as I'm very happy with it as it looks really nice. I have the Zelda limited edition one as well so now I have two.

I LOVE pokemon and yes I'm an adult but so what I think it is a good solid game!

No point in waiting for the platinum bundle because my gf isn't a Pokemon fan. She simply likes sparkly things, and this DS looks sparkly enough for her.
