The Force Unleashed video dump may 'blow your mind'
94
We can only imagine how dejected you must feel right now, sitting at home with a tummy full of popcorn and a heart brimming with disappointment. Your friends and family inquire about the reason for your sorrows, until they notice the tear-soaked ticket stub for Star Wars: The Clone Wars lying on your dresser. No amount of playing with your highly collectible Mego Han Solo seems to help -- your infatuation with George Lucas' epic space opera is dwindling, flickering like a candle in the unforgiving wind.
Allow us to offer you this minor consolation -- a sextuplet of videos from Lucasarts' upcoming dark side frolic, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, via GameTrailers. The trailer above is one of the best pieces of media we've seen from the title, showing some familiar faces from the series and ... what's this? A romantic sub-plot? After the break, we've got five videos which apparently highlight one of the first levels from the game. Before pawning your collection of X-wings in protest, we highly suggest checking them out -- they might just rekindle your once unflappable Lucas-love.

I dont care that they got the vader impersonator. JAMES EARL JONES still does voice overs! it makes NO sense why they didn't get the guy who actually did Vaders voice in the original trilogy. NO SENSE. NONE.

After playing with (or rather against) the Apprentice in Soul Calibur IV, I'm beginning to get sick of looking at him. Is it too late to...I dunno, change the way he looks, sounds, and acts before September?

Yeah, the videos are cool, but why the hate for Star Wars: The Clone Wars? I've seen in three times already (with different friends and family), and I've liked it every time. My friends and family liked it too! The only thing I did not like in the movie was Ziro the Hutt. But even then, it didn't ruin the movie for me. I may even go see it again.

The bodies disappeared after about 3 seconds.
That pisses me off. I like to look around and admire the carnage I've created, not just see it vanish as soon as I turn the camera away.

I despise the way he holds his lightsaber.
Sure it may look cool at first but it makes no sense at all. In the videos hes being shot to hell (and takes almost no damage) but continues to hold his lightsaber behind him where it blocks maybe %10 of the shots being taken at him. The more I watched the more furious I became.
Also with all the talk of powerful physics and graphical prowess we still don't get any dismemberment?

BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
The console versions of Jedi Knight never had dismemberment either, but it WAS a feature of the game. On the PC you could activate it with a cheat. Made the game a lot more fun and made the lightsabers actually dangerous.

dismemberment or not, most of the enemies in Jedi Outcast died after one slash. It's too much like DMC/God of War/etc games by leveling up (i mean really, does it need a huge banner popping up) and multiple hit combos (i was surprised not to see a how many hits a combo was on screen). I mean shit, he's even collecting orbs!!! The game's all flash and no substance. The more i look at it, the more shitty it looks. I doubt the demo will change my mind.

Yeh, a lot of them did, but quite a few didn't either. With the lightsaber activated properly if it touched them, they were dead. Same went for you when facing sith. Instead of hitting eachother with glowing rubber sticks you were hitting eachother with lightsabers.

I'm glad this is a game you play; I was worried this was gonna be a game where you press buttons and little movies happen.

Funny how this game looks much better and more "animated" then "The Clone Wars" movie that just came out....

I lie to myself and pretend some movies never happened.
The are no Star Wars movies besides the original releases of IV, V, and VI...
The Matrix was a stand alone film...
There is no Halo expanded universe...

If this thing has the combat like Ninja Gaiden, then it's a first day purchase for me. Otherwise, it'll be a rental.

Anybody know if there are YouTube versions of these? GameTrailers doesn't work on my iPod touch...it sucks.

I was wondering why does he have such hard time blocking laser bolts but then I realized it must be a bitch when you're holding your saber BEHIND YOUR FUCKING BACK. Makes so much sense.

The trailer and the cutscenes look cool. the graphics and animation look awesome. The plot sounds (on the whole) interesting. (and having the old music is nice as it reminds you of when SW was good).
But the gameplay looks totally stupid. Why couldn't they have made this game without the stupid overpowered-force concept??? Grrr...

I realise that most games are targeted at teenage boys, but they could at least try to hide it a little.

Its weird.. the clone wars cartoons were by far the best thing about the prequels... yet its been obvious from the first trailer that the clone wars movie was gonna suck...

It seems I'm not the only one who noticed the problems in these trailers:
No dismemberment.
Hitting a storm trooper with a lightsaber 2 or 3 times without him dying.
Getting shot a billion times and having it hardly affect your health.
Dead bodies disappearing after 5 seconds.
Lame Vader voice.
I really truly hope the game is better than the trailers suggest. At least it looks pretty!

Personally, the fact that Vader and Starkiller got through that first cutscene without saying anything massively retarded makes it better than anything Lucas has done in the last two decades. I wish it surprised me more that we've gotten to the point where video game dialog is superior to the actual films. Ugh.

Looks fun, but only if you can ignore it being as stupid as hell. It's a lightsaber, not a broomstick. You don't wail on guys with it and knock them around, you remove bits of people's bodies with it.

hahaha, I will spoil everything for you guys!!!
Galen Marek was the son of Kento Marek and another Jedi.[1] His mother had been killed while defending Kashyyyk from Trandoshan slavers.[2]
As Darth Vader was about to deal the finishing blow on Kento, his lightsaber was pulled out of his hand. He turned around to find a young boy holding his lightsaber. He sensed that the boy had the potential to become the most powerful Force user in the galaxy. After killing his father, Vader saved the child's life when a clone commander tried to blast him.[3] Vader spent years training the young Human in the ways of the dark side, in secret, even from his own Master, Darth Sidious. Though skilled with many Force powers, such as telekinesis and Force lightning, he was a Sith apprentice in all but name. The Rule of Two prevented him from becoming Vader's official apprentice, as Vader himself occupied that position. This made Vader's apprentice officially nothing more than a Dark Jedi.
His existence was meant to be kept a secret, so he would make a point of leaving few witnesses to his work, going as far as eliminating Imperial stormtroopers who saw him in action.
Marek's training is deemed complete on board the Executor.

Jedi Temple trials
"You will need all of your skill to survive."
―Unknown Jedi Spirit[src]
When Vader deemed his training complete, he sent his apprentice on a series of trials. One of them was to participate in the Jedi Trials, metaphysical challenges, in the long-destroyed Jedi Temple on Coruscant. He landed on the Temple in a starship dubbed the Rogue Shadow. There, he wiped out stormtroopers and other Imperials who were blocking his way while guarding the Temple. Further into the Temple, he confronted the spirits of long dead Jedi and Sith, as well as encountering the holocron of a Sith Lord named Darth Phobos and her apprentice, Darth Desolous.[4]

"Your spies have located a Jedi?"
"Yes. Master Rahm Kota. He is attacking a critical Imperial shipyard. You will kill him, and bring me his lightsaber."
―Galen Marek and Darth Vader[src]
When his trials were complete, Marek was finally given his first true test to hunt down a single rogue Jedi, Rahm Kota, in a TIE Fighter Construction Facility over Nar Shaddaa. Vader told him that there could be no witnesses, including those who were Imperial stormtroopers. It was hoped that this and many other 'extermination' missions would deem him ready to stand with the Dark Lord to confront and destroy Palpatine.
Before he left for Nar Shaddaa, he met Juno Eclipse, the new pilot of his ship, the Rogue Shadow. He was accompanied by his long-time droid companion PROXY as well.
During Marek's duel with Kota, Kota used the Force to split the Construction Facility in half, changing the gravity and making what was the wall the floor.[1] At the climax of their duel, before the apprentice could finish off the Jedi, Kota said in a rather cryptic manner that he could see the young man's future, and in it all he could see was himself. He also said Marek would not always be Vader's servant.[1]

Marek seriously injured Kota, and finished the duel by using the Force to push him through a glass floor, sending him plummeting toward the surface of Nar Shaddaa.[1]
Further missions
Marek hunted many other Jedi and Rebel targets soon after. He visited Felucia multiple times hunting for the Alderaanian senator Bail Prestor Organa, and the Togruta Jedi Master Shaak Ti. During his hunt for the senator from Alderaan he encountered Maris Brood,[1] who was intent on avenging her Master. Darth Vader also sent him to the wasteland of Raxus Prime to hunt down Kazdan Paratus. However, as time wore on, he became less of an assassin. While doing Vader's bidding, he discovered clues to his own long buried past,[5] fell in love with Juno Eclipse, and helped the fallen Jedi Maris Brood seek redemption. He eventually learned under Master Kota, whose death over Nar Shaddaa had never been confirmed as the Jedi had been last seen falling from the facility towards the moon's surface.[1]

Confrontation with Vader
"The Sith always betray one another…I’m sure you’ll learn that soon enough."
―Shaak Ti[src]
Unbeknown to him, the Emperor's spies had followed him back from Raxus Prime to his rendezvous point, the under-construction Executor. Darth Vader told his apprentice that they were now ready to confront the Emperor together, but as Marek turned around to leave, he was stabbed in the back by the very man who raised him. Darth Sidious commanded his apprentice via holocomm to finish off Marek.[1]
